How to price a Lexus IS300 SportCross
Hi - brand new member here, my first post. I'm the original owner of a 2002 IS300 SportCross that I'm looking to sell. I realize I can't post ads here until I've been a member for 30 days, which is too bad because it will be sold by then. (You can search CraigsList for "2002 Lexus IS300 SportCross 158K mi".) I understand this is an extremely rare and desirable model. That was news to me! I have no idea what to price this car at as there are no comparable SportCross's for sale. It is in fair condition (except paint is shot and it is leaking oil from/around timing belt cover) and would be ideal as a starting point for a true IS300 enthusiast to make it beautiful again. Would forum members please share their advice about how/where to sell it and what a reasonable price is? (I guesstimated $6000 and already have multiple inquiries in less than 1 day, so I think I underpriced it.) Thank you for your help and guidance. - Robert

Do you have facebook? If you do, join the group Lexus Sportcross Owners. I also have a wagon but I'm not totally up to date on what current prices are. I know they've raised drastically since this virus hit, but before that they were rising steadily anyway.
But if I were to guess, if you have a clean title 158k mi Sportcross for sale with typical wear issues you could probably price the car at 10-12k. I've seen good shape rebuilt titled cars with similar mileage to yours sell for 6-8k

I have a sportcross too. And 15x'000 miles is not an uncommon mileage. We are already past 120'000 miles territory, so this will bring the price down that it's "rare" is a strange point, it's much more interesting for a potential buyer to now if the timing belt is new, the oil pump, the seals and the gaskets have been re-done.
I bought mine recently with 38'000 miles on the odometer, and it costed me 11'500$, with all harness, belt, seals and gaskets redone by a really top seller.

Thank you Benoit, I appreciate the feedback. I'm seriously thinking about fixing it up, making sure they use all OEM parts, doing it right, then deciding if I really need to sell it. Dealership service prices seem exorbitant. Are there shops that specialize in engine rebuilds for Lexus and Toyota cars? My education continues...
