My IS Story: Day 1

damn Glen.. grat job o nthe O2 sensor "box" . you should really make like 5-8 of these trick little things you create to dial in the car & assorted mods you install
I know i would buy half of them for sure...
also .. . i was not really aware of much resonance coming from that particular design/ brand Y pipe. i have had several &the yall were pretty quiet.. from my experience these were pretty solid with much thicker tubes than say the XERD, that was REALLY thin & quite bad with a nasty buzzy resonance & rasp. The Carson tuned also has a raspy resonance that rolls on at about 2200rpm to 3k then it goes away.. more of a light rasp than anything else but for an **** owner like me it is starting to be more noticeable all the time......
Did you actually hear the "rasp" regarding this specific Y or was this just more a preventative measure?
If this actually DOES mitigate what ever rasp you might have been expecting out of this design Y pipe... let me know I'll try that on my Carson tuned, instead of swapping it out.
looking sweet my man...!!

Yeah Edgy, the y pipe wrap is just precautionary. Sure doesn't hurt and can only help. I just know that when I was knocking on the pipe bare, it had that raspy ringing sound.
I'd much rather hear SC whine than a rattle under the car.
YUP, we're bringing both cars to LMW.
YOU will most likely be able to see the car in roughly 8 days though.

Here's some of the parts we had painted body color. There's one particular part that's usually painted that is missing from this pic. That one will take another week before you to see the finished mod for that piece.

Thanks Joe & Ed. Too bad we're not living in the same region. I'm sure we would get along.
Ok,
next mod for INDGOGRL is making a mounting location for the Greddy E-manage. I chose to install it inside the ECU box in the engine compartment. SInce all the electronics are in there, the wiring would be simple. I'm also hoping the sealed compartment in there will isolate the E-manage from the harsh environment around it.
Well first off Here's a pic of the E-manage. It's getting slightly modded itself so it's coming apart as well. You'll see what that mod is when the job is completed.

I calculated the existing ECU box would not clear by about an 3/4 inch in height, so the plan is to mold a new cover in fiberglass and make it 3/4 inch higher.
I used the stock cover as a mold and placed a 3/4 inch piece of wood on top.
Next I cover the ECU box in blue masking tape. The tape is there so that I keep the original ECU box clean and not get any spray glue on it on the next step.
Follow this up with a layer foil that I spray glue to the tape. The foil acts as a mold separator when I apply fiberglass on to the box, it will come apart easily as fiberglass will not stick to the foil.
