Default Rear Differential Service Intervals by Miles or Years ?

Hello CL Members. It's been years since I've posted something on here but I'm happy that I'm back! I have a question to ask you guys on your thoughts and opinions which I been trying to figure out.
I have a 2006 Lexus IS350, took it to a Lexus Dealership sometime in August of 2020 to get my Rear Differential serviced. From August of 2020 till today March 2023, I only accumulated only 10k miles on my car since it's not a daily driver but drive it mainly on the weekends. I've seen the service intervals to do it every 30k-50k miles but my big question is, how about years? If I wait until 30k from the initial service, it would be in 6 more years. I don't think that's a good idea. What do you all think?

I've heard people say to do the service because of rust seizing the diff drain. That the fluid is probably fine. IDK tho. If you're in CA there's no rust, right?

true that but it still will need to be serviced if I don't hit that much mileage so how many years in is the qusstion to change the fluid

I've been changing my AWD diff's every 50k miles. First time was with Mobile LS synthetic. At 100k I used Royal Purple. Waiting for the 150k mark to probably use Amsoil this time around.

Still chugging along since I brought the car home at 38k miles back in 2016.

Brake fluid needs sucked out of MC and flushed at each caliper every 3 years.
Diff fluid doesn't attract moisture like brake fluid so, I'd say every 3 years in high humidity areas and maybe 4 in dry moderate climates.

The flip side is if you're under the car and it's in the air, a simple HF hand pump is $10, just do it.

Yes true that! I live in dry moderate area so ill probably end up doing it on the 4 year mark. As for the brake fluid, I agree as well. Every 3 years is fine to flush out and add new! Thanks alot for your help buddy!

NP

Ive been running Amsoil in the A760 trans without issues. Got a late start changing it at 105k. Rear diff has Amsoil in it too.

The Tundra front/rear diff and T-case all got Royal Purple synthetic as it was on sale... The trans needs done, it will get Amsoil. Ironically the baby 4.6 in the truck has the same A760 trans...

Thats cool. It seems you got the good fluids down! I havent used any Amsoil fluids yet. I usually stick to Mobil 1 for oil and Toyota 50/50 coolant and ive never changed the rear diff personally. I would take it to the dealership. This time i will do it myself since its easy. I was rent in the past and now that i bought my home, i have a garage to do my vehicle maintenance. I was thinking of using Mobil 1 on the rear diff but after looking at the technical data, I like what Redline have ro offer. I'm sure Amaoil is great but I'll be sure to look into it

In 2014 or so, I switched my street bike from Dino oil to Mobile 1, and promptly dumped it out before it had 1000mi on it. Switched to Amsoil synthetic. That was a night and day difference in terms of vibrations, shifting, and to a lesser extent clutch engagement.

Go to Harbour Freight, a hand pump is $10. Get two! I use one for new fluid going in, and when needed, old fluid coming out.

Make sure you can get the fill plug out before pulling the drain plug!
