Default Solution

Well, problem is solved. I did get myself another ecu with the correct part number.
The plot twist to this story is that one of the plugs (the one with most tiny wires going into it, not sure what you'd call it) had wires popped loose. So as I was trying to calibrate the steering sensor, it'd say communications error. Makes sense now, why that was. For educational purposes, I might try and see if the other ecu off the 2009 machine would work too, now that I've kind of temporarily fixed the plug, but that's a story for another day. Still makes me a bit suspicious I would not see the PS light with that one, no matter the situation or conditions.

TLDR : wires out of a plug fixed, matching part number EPS ECU installed, steering sensor calibration using techstream (v18) and she's allright again.

If I do one day try the other eps ecu on, I'll try and remember to update this topic here for the compatibility question which I never seemed to get an actual answer to.

Thanks

Please go read the performance threads swapping the IS-F steering ecu. Like 500 posts of swapping. Mine is an 13 F-Sport w an IS-F EPS ECU.

The base non F-Sport has 3 versions of ECU's.
F-Sport has 2 or 3 versions of ECU's.
IS-F has 3 versions of ECU's and all of them interchange in the 2IS platform. The only I'm not sure of is EU 220D. We don't have them here.

Glad you found it. Suspected that all along. Just didn't know where.
