Hi guys,
I have an 06 Lexus IS350 in the rust belt. My midpipe is rotten enough to have about 4 holes in it.. cant pass safety. Instead of welding it I was thinking of an aftermarket midpipe since welding it may rust the rest of the exhaust out? The cats are still good. I was considering getting Megan midpipes and selling my cats at a scrap yard or something.
I was wondering if I will really see a performance increase or a difference in sound? I do not want any rasp or drone whatsoever. I kinda like how it sounds right now with the holes to be honest. I get that the Megan racing pipe gets rid of 2 cats and replaces them with resonators and the piping is .25" wider but I'm not sure if it'll actually make a difference in performance. And does the sound actually change much? I'd like it to be deeper but (correct me if I'm wrong) id have to replace the rest of the exhaust to see that kind of changes?
Also what do you guys think of J2 engineering's full catback? Its only $379 or something, seems too good to be true... I considered xforce's catback too but found it too raspy. Mostly trying to pick the ideal path here and avoid paying Lexus $2,000.
If anyone has any experience or suggestions (even different exhausts) please advise. Any input is appreciated.
Thanks.

Megan would be a great choice if you can find one in stock. If you’re still using the OEM rear section of the exhaust, you’ll not notice a lot of sound increase.

Yeah... called a few shops around there saying a lot of people stopped doing that for whatever reason..
. One performance shop does do it, but they want close to $3000 for parts + labor.. They suggested getting Megan midpipe instead...
