Difficulty accelerating smoothly due to loss of momentum shifting from 1st to 2nd.
Hey yall, so I'm a few months into the ownership of my 09 IS250 6MT, I do enjoy driving the car but I am finding that up-shifting into 2nd gear only really works smoothly for me at low RPM, under 2000. I am coming from a 1st gen Matrix 5MT which I drove for over 2 years and had a blast, I could easily shift out of 1st above 4000 RPM at times and shift into 2nd immediately. However, on this 2IS I am finding that the gearbox is pushing back against my effort to shift into 2nd unless I am moving very slowly, essentially 1st gear speeds. Downshifting into it has a similar issue but it is not nearly as pronounced as up-shifting into 2nd. It feels like the revs hang for a second and then drop very quickly, such that I can't shift during that first second unless I am moving very slowly at low RPM.
I've found 1 thread with somebody describing the same issue, is this a issue in general with the RA62? Or is my 2nd gear synchro worn out and this is the symptom perhaps? The car has 250,000 km (~150k miles) with a new clutch installed a year ago, all gears other than 2nd shift like butter, even at higher RPM.
If this is something you've experienced yourself, how have you adjusted your driving for smooth acceleration? I am getting (mildly) worried somebody in an auto will just rear-end me soon when I lose momentum shifting into 2nd from a stop light.
