I've done a bit of research, and this project should be possible. I found this thread where the Gen 5 Nav system was upgraded to the Gen 6 system. From my understanding, all I would need are the Gen 6 OEM unit, amp, and speakers. In order to figure out how to wire it, does anyone have the wire schematics for each Nav unit? I'm pretty sure I could get everything but audio working because I would need the 2010 amp. I also don't know if I would need a new harness for anything, so please let me know.

If anyone has already done this, do you have any info I could use?

With the amount of money you’re going to be spending doing this conversion, you’re best off just trading up to a 2010-2013 if the gen 6 navi is really what you want.

Also, there are connectors in the gen 6 Navi that gen 5 doesn’t have so even if you get the harness to run the nav, you might not get full functionality out of it.

Any particular reason you'd wanna do this?
Wiring for the earlier system makes it easier to replace with a china head unit. Or, you can add Vline grom. Both seem like better options that trying to upgrade to the "newer" system which is also dated at this point\

Obviously the upside is that it'll be quicker and have bluetooth, but does not seem worth the money given the options I listed. Especially with Vline grom available which retains the OEM screen
