went to start my car the other day and nothing. no clicks, no failed turn over, just silence. aaa came out and checked my battery and it was fine.

things i've done since then -- pulled the starter relay. was able to start the car by jumping the line to the starter. so it's at the relay or before it. used a circuit checker to see if there was a circuit between the different pin pairs to/from the relay. the only ones that made a circuit were to the starter. the control wires wouldn't light up for me. i'm not sure if that's expected or not.

the relay seems fine -- checked continuity and even used a 9v battery to toggle it and it seemed to operate and make the proper connection when engaged.

the security light stops blinking when i turn the car on (acc is all i get).

the brake lights react to actions on the pedal.

i'm able to get codes from the obd reader.

can't shift out of park until i turn the car on, but when i do the gear indicator on the dash will say all gears except p and n. can't start in either. no notification to put the car in park or anything either. when in p and n, there's a humming coming from the engine bay someplace that stops when shifting into another gear.

push start button light is orange when i turn the car on, doesn't react when i press the brake pedal (not sure if it's supposed to -- never really noticed).

the dashboard display doesn't provide much info other than "trac off".

checked the ignition fuse and seemed fine. even swapped for a different 10a. the car behaves no different with the ignition fuse removed and/or the starter relay pulled.

the fuse bar thing by the start relay seems in tact.

not sure what else to try.

anybody got suggestions other than taking it to an actual mechanic?

the 10 amp "ign" fuse a checked was the one under the passenger side dash. i've located more info about additional fuses to check. fingers crossed it's one of them... beyond anything obviously related to the ignition, are there other fuses that might be involved?
