Default Radio, Amplifiers, Fuses

I have a 2006 Lexus is250. The old radio amplifier got wet one too many times and finally died. I bought a used one off eBay and plugged it in and both rad fuses under the hood #1 and #2 blow immediately. What could be the cause for this to happen all of a sudden? Is the other amplifier defective or is something else going on that I’m not seeing? I really could use some input here guys as I’m about to return this amplifier to the seller as I’m feeling that it’s possibly defective.

And you are positive the fuses were okay before replacement went in?

If you have an ohm meter measure the two inputs and verify they are not shorted to ground lug. If you do a search on here, the pinout has been listed before in a schematic.

The common fault is the protection diodes short popping the fuses as this one did. Why? Usually from someone reversing the battery polarity. This action reverse biases the protection diodes dumping all the current to ground and sometimes destroys the diode but saves the amp. A search here will find pictures of one such case and the diode blown apart.

Depending on what the return policy is, you may need to try another amp? The parts cost for replacement diodes is likely <$5.oo. Labor will be much more unless you diy.
