SUP, the rear of the new IS 250/350 kinda looks similar to the grey IS you posted except the tail lights were larger and did not fade into the rear fender. I did get the feeling that the rear end kinda resembles a Nissan Maxima. As for the front, the lines where the middle section kinda buldges out were much closer than the grey IS you posted. The grill on the grey IS you posted looks similar to the older Camry's grill. If I remember correctly the new IS grill was much different than the grey IS posted. As for the head lights the new IS 250/350 were one piece, not two separate lights like the second and third generation GS. All of this is coming from memory and I only got a minute or two to view those pictures Amy allowed me to look at. I apologize for not being more descriptive. This is the best I can do.

For you guys who saw a quick preview of the next IS, would you say it was a good looking car? Does it look anything like the LF-C concept shown at the NY Auto show? With all the talk from Lexus about having more beautiful styling going forward, I'm really hoping for a knockout. If they can get the styling right and keep the reliability....watch out!

It all really depends. If you like the styling of the new GS, then you will like the new IS. So far, the pics we saw were camera phone pics of a picture on a huge projector. Safe to say it is clean looking.

If Lexus can keep the new IS350 under (or around 35k)), give it a 6-speed, and get to 60 in under 5 seconds then I may have to re-think my options. Hard to believe 300hp PLUS from a 3.5 V-6.

I guess all of this GS look-alikeness will mean that like the other makes you'll have small, medium and large versions of the same themes. I'm not sure if that's good or bad.

Hmm.... on paper it sounds like the stats of two other Japanese entry level cars. Go figure Lexus would want to match that.

to certain extend it's like the bimmer and mb theory i think. if you look at mb, they all have "about" the same front, same with bimmer. i think that's good if you have a good overall style, ie mb imho now if it's somethig like bimmer (remember way back when the 7 first came out?), then it might not be good

even if it's the same trend though, i would like some variations, like if you look at the headlights on the s class, e class, and c class, you can easily tell the difference. if they are all just 4 circles, i think that's a bad thing, my 2 cents

Didn't those pics come out a long time ago?

There's just way too many rumors/pics floating around.

I agree.. the only pictures we'll be able to trust are the ones that Lexus will send Flipside or TCM. whenever they decide to do that........
