thanks for paddle pics guys. am I the only one that is more taken by this car than the new GS? for some reason, it's just more impressive to me, and I was never an IS fan.

Nope you're not the only one. I am also more impressed by the 2nd gen IS than I ever was with the 1st gen IS. I also prefer this 2nd gen IS to the 3rd gen GS!

Me too, I like the new IS almost right away after I saw the first pics, I never liked the new GS from the pics, but after seeing it in person, I'm getting to like it more & more too.

You know what really bothers me? While we have obviously seen the styling changes, feature changes, and power changes... nobody has mentioned a thing about anything about improvements to the chassis! How much stiffer is the chassis going to be in torsional and bending rigidity? How about noise control improvements? You know... the stuff that actually affects the way the car drives. I'm not impressed if the only improvements are new buttons and toys, more power, and a fresh look. Show me some real technical improvements under all the hoopla. I'm sure they're there, but you just never hear them brag about them or even mentioned in most magazines.

I realize the IS is still far from out, but now that the GS is out and about you still hear almost nothing about it. For all I know this chassis is just a carry-over with nothing all that new or impressive about it!

The new GS is a TON quieter than the last one, and nobody said anything about that. But you're right, i haven't heard anything about stiffness or rigidity. I didn't know the previous one had problems with that? I thought the handling and braking was what made that car.

In the video that guy says that the suspension & layout wil be shared with the new GS but that it will be tuned a bit more agressively.

He also says that the underbody is substainsual different that the GS, it went through extensive wind tunnel testing.

Werd. The IS is based off a shorter GS platform with some differences to make it sportier.

I like it! I have to convince the wifey that this should be our next Lexus instead of the RX330.

Whoa. I never bothered to look at this thread, but boy am I glad I did. I don't think I could buy this car because it's probably too small for my needs, but wow, Lexus really did a nice job on this car. I didn't like the 3rd gen GS when I first saw it, but like others, it has started to grow on me. This new IS caught my attention right away.

Default What about without nav option?

I wonder how the dashboard would look without the DVD Nav equipment in place. In the current 2005 IS it does not make that much difference, but in the 2006 IS, since it is right in the center, I guess that all screen controled commands, such as radio and climate, will have to fill the gap as in other Toyota / Lexus products.
