I think it kind of looks like the 2006 BMW M5.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Well , the new IS doesn't have those ugly creases on the 5 series , its already outdated look of the interior & the i-drive.

"the IS looks better than the 5 without all the weird lines"

Agree but you have to admit the front and tail do have quite a few similiarities.

well, seems like that's the industry trend anyway. imho, i have seen enough people talking about the new gs being similar to the maxima (or vise versa). i just take it as the current industry style and trend

There will always be people b*tching and complaining whenever a new car comes out that it looks like this and that ,so while it does have some similarities it cannot be mistaken for the ugly 5 series.Remember when the current gen Camry was just released, everyone ept saying that it looked like a Taurus, now, when your on the street do you mistake them for either one?

robloc93,

Don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining, I like the new design. I think Henry's observation is dead on - it's the industry trend which is why so many new cars are sharing similar looking features.

Sorry if that came out wrong It wasn't directed at you,but people in general, what I meant is that in any new car design there will always be some influence from other vehicles and so on,nothing wrong with that but people seem to blow it outof porportion. It's pretty uncommon that a vehicle comes out these days that has an entirely new unseen exterior,so of course automakers will take styling cues from vehicles that they think look good, and thats fine by me as long as they're not an exact replica.Once again my apologies if it came out wrong

robloc93 - no apologies necessary, I just didn't want people to think this was another complaint thread.

I'm excite enough about this new IS that I'm almost inclined to fly to NY for the auto show.

That BMW interior is definitely fugly !

Actually, robloc93, that's the interior of the new 3-series that 1Sick posted, not that the new 5 is much better though.

Now true that is a base 3 to a NAV IS but still, its painfully obvious, the new 3 interior seems no better than the current one, while the new IS is 5 steps better than the current one (except in originality).
The new IS has what seems to be a near or class-leading interior. The exterior will never please everyone but again seems to be different to others in this class.

Lexus sells 70k Es 330s. There is no way they can't sll 50k IS models with a choice of manual or auto, RWD or AWD and 2 engine choices.

I think the styling overall is nice. The interior is nice. It looks almost exactly like the gs interior. The front is nice, but from sideview, it looks like a scion tc with 4 doors. Not that its a bad thing, but i wouldnt really want my lexus to look like a scion. This is definetely a big improvement over the old is300. not bad lexus..I'm just happy to see that the rear doesnt looks too much like a mazda like how the concept photos looked
