your right, i dont think the is250 will be around 27k, but im just guessing becuase if they priced over the 3 series, you wont see me driving the lexus then, plus they also have to put the g35 in the factor caz thats the closes car that match head w/ 3 series right now, and their based price is 29k, but w/ freaking 270hp. if lexus charge so much on the is250 then that just wouldnt make sense to me.also if you look at the audi A4, their based price for the new 1.8T is 27k. although its only 4cyl but it has a turbo and also product like 194hp. i think lexus should be following the pricing around audi because they cant go head to head w/ 3 series after all they are the market segment leader, so they can charge wha ever they want and people will still get it, remember how we used to say how bmw overpriced their car, lexus isnt a brand that over price their car. thats one thing im sure of. so for me to say the is250 27k would make sense caz they dont have to market and power to charge wha bmw is charging.
also for the gs, lexus has a 8k markup from invoice to msrp, that means there alot of room for that car to go down, currently the car is hot and people want that car, but once thats over you will get rooms to get down on the price.

the IS250 will be $31,000 ... is that realistic? i hope not...i really want this car
The new 3er starts at $29,000...and that is the 325i...Lexus never makes their cars more expensive than BMW
the new GS430 is 7000 less than the 5er
I think and hope it will be $26,000

Well Liz has revealed in Car Chat the prices of the new IS250 and IS350.
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=154137
"Pricing will remain competitive and the IS will start around $32k-$33k, same as what we have now, but a top of the line will be about $45k."
I think that's a pretty big jump in the pricing a la the new GS.

I don't think it's official yet, but even 4 cylinder TSX is 27K to just under 30K. With the standard equipment listed for the new IS, it doesn't sound outrageously high. A base BMW 325 may start at $32K but will be less well equipped.

Of course a TSX will be cheaper. Where is the engineering? Its FWD with an I-4. Its a different car.
Lexus vehicles have all gone up in price and consumers feel its worth it. The current ES starts at 32k and sells 70k a year. The RX 330 jumped in price, a loaded one is now 48k and most are in the 40s, they sell 100k a year.
The G35 starts at 28k but it shares parts with the cheaper 350Z. So they can price it cheaper. Its driving experience makes up for the interior.
If the IS 250 was FWD and a I-4, yes, it woud easily be a 25k car. The TSX is a fine car but we are now comparing apples to oranges.
Lexus stated they are chasing the 3 series, TSX is no where on the radar.

to me it's like lexus want to build two solid base model for the lineup, one completely family and one completely sport -- the es and the is. so they are priced about the same, and the is get some what more variety of course. i think this is good move
to be honest, i don't want lexus to have too "cheap" of a vehicle. i rather have them put in more features and technology and keep up the class (no pun intended)

Of course, you dont HAVE to buy fully loaded model, I am sure that "base" IS350 will be more than adequatly equipped for some 35k-36k, and if you want all the extra goodies, then you gotta pay for them.
330i with similar features (no pcs, no vdim, no ml) will cost around 47k, with 255hp engine :-), so comparable IS350 will be at least 5k cheaper...

People buy loaded BMW 330s from 45k-50k. Lexus has now proven to be a worthy competitor and can price its new vehicles accordingly. No offense to L-tuned owners but you basically got 8hp, a kit, rims and a drop for 44k for the current IS 300. So 45k for a new loaded IS 300 is a bargain in that sense.

I am disappointed that the new IS250 will start at $32-33K...i'm disappointed because i really wanted this car.
OH well, but I am still so glad that they will come out with a new ES and LS soon. How exciting.

Why r u so diapointed? The IS currently starts at about 30K. The IS250 is a totaly redesigned car with more technology in it. you are going to see a 8-10percent price jump. The GS had a 10 percent price jump from the 05 model.

IS pricing
Don't forget that the IS is designed to be an entry level model for Lexus. Which mean it has to be priced lower than any existing model in the line-up. The ES330 base price starts at around $31300. The current model year IS starts at a little over $30. I expect the IS250 to start at aboutn $30500 to $31000. The options available on the vehicle may carry it to about $35000. This is just my quest, no data to back this up. Does it sound logical?

the current IS, imho, is the entry level coz' it's just forced into shape, meaning from a total toyota and they forced it into a lexus. they couldn't do what they would have wanted to make the car a real lexus. so they couldn't put enough stuff on the car to put up the price, and ended up putting the car the level where it is at now
just imagine, the only lexus with no ML, no memory seat (in the beginning), no autodim mirrors (in the beginning), no armrest (added later), no nav option (added later, and not even touch screen). from those you can see lexus was just forced to make the current IS into a lexus
