Great news - just what I was hoping for!

Now for the final piece of the puzzle - have you heard any news/rumors about pricing on the new IS350? I need a new car very bad and would really like to pick up one of these, however price is a factor....nice photos BTW.

Any chance you think that a base IS350 could come in around $35K - $5-6K over the IS250 ($29-30K) seems reasonble....or am I nuts.

Pricing for the IS350 is gonna be in the upper 30 range...possibly the first $40k IS model.

Yes it's heavy, maybe due to too many standard gadgets compared to a relatively sparsely equipped base 330i. We have to wait for real world tests between the 2 (both with auto transmission) tho.

I agree. But it would be well worth it if it is a little higher.

Thanks despite the bad news...

It's too bad they're going to start the pricing so high...I can't see paying $40K for an entry level car - even if it is a pretty sweet Lexus. That said, I'd definitely consider this car way before a BMW - there's no way in hell I'd ever pay anywhere near/over $40K for a 3 series even though I learned to drive in them and have driven some of my friends' recent 3 series - way overpriced, terrible interior design, and unreliable.

Guess I'm back to my TL/G35 dilema - for close to $6-8K less (assuming $40K 350 price), sounds like these two cars will be a much better value...the 298HP G35 looks and handles great (negative: terrible interior - yes I've sat in and test driven a new one) and the 270HP Acura has a great interior on par with the Lexus' (negatives: FWD/torque steer, built in US, tranny reliability questions). If Lexus could start the pricing around $35K, they'd have a definite hit on their hands while taking away sales from the G35 and TL.

Thanks for keeping things interesting over the last few weeks...

Question Transmissions

So, there's no manual tranny on the IS350, and the one on the IS250 is "Sequential"? That's a great disappointment from Lexus...

If that's not including the '02 Stage II L-tuned...with the $7700 package, that brought it to over $40K. Of course, there's not many orig L-tuned out there either.

Now, I was told today by my guy at Lexus that he had spoken with his FTS (can't remember what that stands for) that the IS350 will more than likely range around the mid to high 30s. It will come with heated and cooled seats as well as many other features of the current LS. So that sounds a little better then what we have heard thus far. Let's hope that he's right.

Also in other news of the GS, there is talk the there will be the GS300, then a GS350, a GS400 with a V6 producing more then 300HP and then a GS450 super car type.

Well the L-Tuned package wasn't a real from the factory package. It was a Port Installed Option (PIO).

I think a base IS350 at mid $30K sounds reasonable, but a loaded one with an extensive list of the new gadgets will probably go over $40K .

I still stand by the prices I postulated here.

Value= you always get what you pay for. Think about it.

Thanks. I'm glad that the early rumors that said the IS350 will only come fully loaded are totally false.

Lexus has made a good number of equipment optional to keep the base price of the IS350 more attainable. (Although whether or not one can really get a "base" car is another big question.)

sarcasm? It should be at least 0.5 sec faster in 0-60... Weight difference in published numbers in mere 75lbs for both AT, and I am assuming that IS350 will have a lot more base equipment to make it heavier... so they weight almost the same, +-30-50lbs.

As to the real power - passing times, IS350, with this kind of power and huge torque it has, will kill 330i, and run around it in circles... Just check how fast was GS430 at speed (CD comparo, passing times). It also has almos 30% more torque than 330i, which will make it feel much faster, any time you press the pedal.

Aditionally, we now know that IS350 will NOT come only fully loaded with >40k price. As lexus has shown, expensive options will be optional. That means they will be able to offer it in mid-30 range.

Unveiling has pretty much shown a lot of these new posts wrong (weight, power, IS300, price)...

I am pretty darn enthusiastic about IS now! Cant wait to see more... too bad Lexus will make us wait a lot more!
