Hm, if everyone raises prices, that could be seen as price manipulation and run afoul of antitrust laws. In fact, I think Honda said that they won't raise prices for this reason.

Whatever happend to letting the market system and the invisable hand determining the product price? I'm kind of getting tired of all these company bail outs. So what if a few airlines go out of business or GM goes down. There are other competition out there and life goes on. They say we will pay a big price if these big companies go under. As if we are not already paying the price to bail them out with tax money anyway. Either way we pay the price, so let a few mismanaged companies go under. Maybe that will wake up all the other sorry mismanaged companies into getting their act together.

nobody should raise prices, and Toyota wont either. Every product needs to be priced to compete, Toyota will not endanger themselves...
GM & Ford's problems are is not Toyota but their own lack of good products and years of slipping quality. When they make an good product, it sells too.
Their biggest REAL problem is their overproduction, which is why they have to discount their cars so much in order to sell huge amounts of them. Another problem is bad product - I mean 90% of big 3 products are failures, what do you expect? How can someone be excited about subpar vehicle?
Toyota does NOT sell well just because it is Toyota, it sells well because it is suited well to targetted demographics - when it is not, Toyota is punished as every other manufacturer - Echo for US was too cheap, Avalon was too old, Celica was too overpriced, GS was old, IS is old, etc, etc, they all were failures at their later dates. Now, Toyota being an leader company - recoginizes their mistakes and corrects them - 2006 GS, 2005 Scion tC, 2005 Avalon are all freaking awesome cars in their own right that simply can not stay on the lots - tC is most sold non-mustang coupe in a loong, loong time, Avalon is doing 50% better than expected and GS is just superb. And what does Ford do after bad Taurus? 1999 Camry imitation for 2005 - Ford 500... What does GM do after Cavalier? Cobalt...
That aint Toyota's fault for sure... sorry for going o/t but I think those "Toyota raising pricing.." articles are just stupid journalism.. 19,995 tC would not be cool.
