IS Update email from lexus.
First post for everyone - just interested in Lexus because of the New IS and hoping to replace my 2004 TL six-speed with an IS350. Here is the text of the message.
Take a Deep Breath.
Now Prepare to have it Taken Away.
There has been a lot of speculation about the direction of the all-new 2006 Lexus IS. Some rumors have hinted that the new IS will be a true performance sedan. Others have guessed that the IS will feature more technological innovations. And there are those who believe the IS will focus on adding more luxurious amenities and a bold new style, making luxury and design a priority. Because you've asked to be updated on the new IS, you're among the first to know that all of these predictions are correct. The new 2006 IS will be the definitive performance car with groundbreaking automotive technology, a stunning new design and luxury features never before seen in its class. Although the IS won't arrive until this fall, you just might need this time to prepare yourself to be swept away.
Earning Its Racing Stripes
The new IS makes its racing ancestry proud with four powerful models to choose from: the IS 350 six-speed paddle-shift sequential automatic and the IS 250 manual, automatic and all-wheel drive. The IS 350 boasts a 3.5-liter V6 engine, fueled by more than 300 hp and more than 275 lb-ft of torque. It will allow you to experience the thrill of launching from 0 to 60 mph in under six seconds. The IS 250 features an energetic 2.5-liter engine that packs over 200 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. But acceleration is just the beginning of your thrill ride.
Forget your morning coffee–you'll be energized just by the way the IS expertly navigates every hairpin turn of the road. Its innovative suspension system is designed to optimize wheel alignment and provide precise handling. Driving enthusiasts will also appreciate the all-new front and rear suspension.
Technology That's Years Ahead is Only Months Away.
There's always something tantalizing about a new car's aroma. But that's nothing compared to the delight of experiencing a new technological innovation. A standard SmartAccess keyless entry system activates sequential lighting to illuminate your way. Once you're settled, the innovative Push-Button Start/Stop allows you to turn on the ignition with the touch of a fingertip. When the IS engine ignites, the console's electroluminescent gauges flash across the instrument panel with a "light saber" effect. The IS will intrigue you with other available features that include a voice-activated DVD navigation system [1] with backup camera and Bluetooth® technology [2], Tire Pressure Monitor System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and many other features that are typically found in only the most expensive luxury cars.
An Advance Look at Advanced Luxury.
For those who believe it's what's on the inside that counts, the new IS will surpass your expectations. You may find yourself looking forward to traffic, when you get to be pampered, relaxed and entertained by the luxurious amenities in all four IS models. A breathtaking drive will be accompanied by an equally inspiring soundtrack, courtesy of a standard 13-speaker sound system that's MP3 and iPod® compatible. The sound system can also be set up for satellite radio [3]. Audiophiles can opt for the available Mark Levinson® Premium Surround Sound System [4], exclusively designed for the acoustics of the Lexus cabin.
You can admit it–you want a gorgeous car. The bold look of the redesigned IS will be love at first sight. With its sleek and aerodynamic new lines, the IS delivers. It's the next Lexus model to feature the new L-Finesse design direction, exemplifying simplicity and elegance. The exterior's muscular stance, combined with other refined style elements, makes the new IS appear both sporty and sophisticated.
Safety in Numbers.
With a car this stunning, you'll take every precaution to keep your IS from getting even the slightest scratch. You'll be relieved to know that the IS is designed to show you the same amount of attention. That's why all IS models are equipped with a total of eight airbags, including knee airbags for the driver and front passenger, plus a new front passenger airbag.
The IS possesses such intelligence, it can even help to predict an accident before it happens. The available Pre-Collision System (PCS) [5] uses radar to detect potential obstacles, while sensors determine if a crash is unavoidable. If so, the seatbelts and brakes are adjusted to optimize safety.

With four models to choose from, including rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options, you'll be able to find the IS that's tailored to your particular passion for driving. If you're equally passionate about style, luxury and advanced technology, the IS will be the perfect fit. As more detailed information becomes available, it will be posted on the IS Preview page. Please keep checking the page, since it will continually be updated.
Look for another e-mail with more IS information in August. Lexus is looking into holding an online discussion forum to answer more questions about the new IS, so we will keep you informed as to how and when this will take place.

[1] The Lexus DVD Navigation System is designed to assist in locating an address or point of interest. Discrepancies may be encountered between the system and your actual location. Changes in street names, road closures, traffic flow or other road system changes may affect the accuracy of the mapping software. Rely upon your common sense to decide whether or not to follow a specified route. Detailed coverage not available in every city. Optional periodic geographic updates available at an additional cost. See your Navigation System Owner's Manual and your Lexus dealer for further details.
[2] While there are several Bluetooth phones in the market, Lexus recommends the phones listed on its Web site because they have been tested and meet Lexus' high standards for voice quality and functionality. Note that the recommendation of Lexus is not a warranty of the performance for any phone and that some problems may occur with any type of handset based on the service coverage available in your area.
[3] Satellite Radio requires XM® or Sirius® capacity, receiver and monthly service fee. See your Lexus dealer for further details. Reception of the satellite signal may vary depending on location. All fees and programming subject to change. Subscriptions subject to the terms and conditions available at www.xmradio.com or www.sirius.com. Available only in the 48 contiguous United States.
[4] Mark Levinson is a registered trademark of Madrigal Audio Labs, Inc., a division of Harmon International Industries.
[5] The Lexus Pre-Collision System is designed to help reduce the crash speed and damage in certain frontal collisions only. It is not a collision avoidance system and is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving. System effectiveness depends on many factors, such as speed, driver input and road conditions. Please see your Owner's Manual for further information.

I got the same email. Nothing new, we've seen all those pics months ago here.
I noticed right away how Lexus is still not giving us any info about hp, still keeps saying,....more than 300 hp. Why don't they just tell us what it is?
I will say that there is gonna be alot of options on this car, it's really a entry level car but the options are nothing like entry level. The technology that is in this car is going to be amazing for this class.

It's just marketing for them & I don't think there will be too much new that we' ve not heard of already. But if there's a discussion forum, just make sure to request from them a real 6MT with clutch for the IS350 ASAP, a SMG, a regular 2 door coupe & a IS460 with 6MT as well

j/k... I do hope they answer every question that's asked.... (such as the specs of the IS460/IS500 and the IS convertible OK I know I'm dreaming, but it's all good as long as they take the forum seriously.)
