Is this a test mule? Looks like a 2-door Crown Athelete??

Not a repost, but there's another thread reporting similar news from a different source. The above pic certainly doesn't look anything like the new IS sedan, I agree it's probably just a test mule using a different body as a disguise . . .

A different body that looks except for that extremely short rear door A larger front door to make it a fully 2 door would make it even more

This in a 2 door couldn't be an IS with the body style, it doesn't look anything like it.

Considering that the GS and the Crown Athelete share the same chassis and that the IS is based on a shortened GS chassis, we have good and legitimate reasons to believe that this chopped off Crown Athelete is indeed a possible prototype of an IS coupe.

The rear "doors" look fake and tacked on to me

Yes indeed, I am willing to bet the bank this is a test mule for an IS coupe.

Toyota is moving more towards test mules with different body shells, rather than camoflauging the actual body of a future car.

The front doesnt it look like an 04-05 LS430... I think it does... And the lights look like the LS except with red... I think this could be LS460 coupe... (That would be interesting)... Naw lexus has a very interesting way of their test mules... GO LEXUS.... Lexus is doing this all for good, and these ideas are great, because Lexus has to create all the variations to compete efficiently

After L-Finesse dont you guys think that Lexus has stepped on the pace for new variations, I SEE SERIOUS COMPETITION

Thats what i actually thought that the nest avalon 05 model would look like, i like that styling better than the new 05 models that just released, but i still like the 05 models, If this or maybe the next LS, soupe for that matter, it sure does look small for a flagship from Lexus, even though its a coupe. it looks like the size of the ES330 if not a compact sedan. im liking the dual quad w/e exhaust though

Autoweeks thinks it is a test mule for a Lexus coupe. However, they think it is 6-series competition and not the 3-series. New model from Lexus?

Good find. Perhaps that explains why it looks still a bit too large (especially the rear overhang) to be an IS coupe. One can only speculate so much for now.

As for the LF-A, a test vehicle was also spotted flying around the Nürburgring about the same time.
So they're continuing to test the LF-A prototype at the 'ring. They must be really serious about bringing it out!

I hope it's true. A larger Lexus coupe that competes with the CLS & 6 is highly desirable . . .
