Pricing for IS350/250 on lexus.jp
swisslexusclub pointed out in the other thread that lexus.jp website has been update, and i was browing around and i found this pricing page. I thought it's interesting to take a look at even tho these pricing might not reflect to US pricing.

5250K yan for IS350 isnt cheap at all for Japanese standard
it is a bit more expensive than JDM Toyota Landcruise VX Limited which is around 4950K yan for fully loaded. (i think MSRP for Landcruise here is 55k.)

The price for a Japanese GS430 is 6,300,000 yen which is equal to $56,334.39 and the list price for a GS430 in the US is $51,775 so if you add some options, it gets pretty close to the Japanese price. Based on that, I think the new IS prices will be above what everybody is expecting.

Also the new Lexus cars in Japan are at a premium over the previous gen Toyota equivalents from last year, but yes you're right, the expense is about equivalent to US $$$...we'll see about the price increase.

Announcing the Lexus models' pricing in Japan for the first time, Toyota said the GS sedan would start at 5.2 million yen ($46,580) for the entry-level 3.5-litre version. That represents a 28 percent premium to the 3.0-litre Aristo model.
The 2.5-litre IS will start at 3.9 million yen, compared with a 2.0-litre Altezza at 2.5 million yen. The SC coupe will cost 6.8 million yen, against 6.3 million yen for the Soarer model.

It's totally pointless to compare prices of cars between different countries. At the current exchange rates( & other considerations), most cars are significantly more expensive in Europe & Canada etc. than comparable models in the U.S. . . .

The only time other market pricing might help is in the relative price increase within one market. Early price increases in Europe indicated virtually no change in the pricing of the E90 3 series. So when it came to the US the small price increases followed. This one time change from the Altezza to the IS in Japan is not indicative of price increases elsewhere.

I would not consider the IS350 a worthy bargain if it doesn't come with navi/lev, etc for under 40k.
How do they expect to steal sales from the 3-series if they're priced above it? Lexus has always given consumers more for less $ than BMW. Not a good time to change that when you're targeting 45k sales a year (just under what the 3-series sells, I think)
The IS250 with no optional equipment was specifically stated by lexus to be targeted to be under 30k including destination charges - if they successfully do that then I really can't see a well-equipped IS350 being any more than 40k.

um.... Is there a tax for automobile????
For example, I am from Thailand. The car tax in Thailand is about 200 %.
So, if a bmw 3 serie in USA cost $30,000, the sell price in Thailand would be about $90,000.
(I am not that impressed when I see asians drive luxury cars. The cars in U.S. are much cheaper comparing to those car in Asia.)
So, anyone knows about the car tax in Japan ????

But I doubt the prices quoted on any japanese or US website are including tax.

The base GS 430 in America is now 7k less than the base BMW 550.
BMW announced the 330 will be a 37k car. Expect the IS 350 to be a 33k car.
The IS 250 will start right at 30k, the IS 250 AWD at 32k and the IS 350 at 33k.
The only thing I think will throw my estimate off, if they give the IS 250 rock bottom pricing, like starting at 28k or so, which i just don't see happening.
America = 80% of Lexus sales. They can't fudge up the pricing. And I don't think it will matter, you get a car with literally the best of both worlds, almost full luxury, and almost full sport.

Don't think the IS350 will start at anything less than about 35K
base of 33K? No way. 35K much more likely. Remember, the 350 includes leather, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, seat/mirror memory, heated mirrors, automatically dimming mirrors, comfort access (to steal the BMW term) and a six speed auto (a 1275 option on a 330/325) as standard.
Plus, my sales guy was speaking with a Lexus corp rep last week and got a base price figure between 35 and 36K from him. I don't think a sales guy would dare relay a figure like that to a customer who was putting down a deposit unless he was pretty sure that the corporate rep was not BSing, especially when he easily could have said, "we still have no official pricing on this car yet."
All that said, I think all of us will all be able to get a pretty nicely equipped 350 for about 38-40K or a nicely equipped 250 for 32-34K.
