After looking at the IS350 specs, I wonder if anyone who owns the GS430 regrets buying one. Doesn't the IS350 have a stronger and more efficient engine than the GS430 because the IS uses a V6 with 306 hp and the GS uses a V8 with only 300hp. I guess people who buy the GS buy it for the status not so much for the practicality. The ride of the GS, is it more smooth than the IS? Other than what to expect from the ride, both the IS and the GS are almost equiped with the same gadgets/options. Am I wrong about my analysis?

The people who buy the GS are mostly a different breed, what I mean is that most GS buyer probably want more comfort than sport, but stull want some speed. 300hp and 306 is pretty much the same, you wont ever feel the difference between the two. Only the weight of the car and the transmission will make the difference in 0-60 times. The GS is a much larger car as well, its for people who want more sedan and comfort and luxury. The IS is a smaller car and will appeal to other buyer who want more sport in a smaller car. That's what I think. Plus the GS430 will be upgraded to the GS460 soon and then the GS430 owner might want to switch lol.

According to your logic, you could ask LS430 owners if they regret their purchase since the new GS430 has more power and newer technology. I bet most would say no. I figure the same people who prefer the GS over the IS likely prefer the 5 over the 3, the E over the C, and the M over the G. Some people just like bigger cars.

We estimate around 350-360hp with a near equal amount of torque. Changes to the body will be very minimal

I'd still go with the GS...trying not to seem biased. But with the right mods, the GS can handle as well as an IS and has more room/comfort. Plus I like the looks of the GS over an IS.

Personally, I find the IS to be a bit more sleek than the GS. The IS, to me, looks a lot more aerodynamic than the GS. I should check out the coefficient drag on the two.

i would actually choose the gs430 as well. the is350 should be a very nice car, but given my previous is300, i am just not sure with the space. it's not very bad, but i dont' get the spaceous feel like i do on my gs4 (not even my sc430, if you just count the front).
handling and the performance of the is350 should be much better that's for sure, but i guess i am getting a bit old
