A friend of mine is lookign at a new car for his family.
When will the new IS be availible and will there be a wait list for it? His wife was in an accident so they lost their one car.
Also how will the new IS stack up against the Acura TL in terms of interior size, safety, mileage and performance??
Thanx

the new IS will be out in late sept to mid oct i say
i think there will be a bit wait in the beginning. i think it's going to be high demand and initially the price will be at high at msrp
the tl has bigger interior i think, and it's probably more comfortable. but lexus has better built quality inherently, the car also has a lot more power and the handling will be a lot better. i don't like the tl being a fwd car, the handling was a bit disappointing. fully loaded the tl will probably be cheaper than the is350 loaded too.
i think for the money you probably get more of a car on the tl, but if you talk about real fun and performance with top notch built quality (which i care the most), i would choose lexus

Thanx for the input guys.
Looks like he will be getting a TL, as he wont be able to wait for the IS. The GS is too $$$$ and the ES too "old timer" (his words).

For instane, the lil bitty IS 300, I am 6"5 and that car has more legroom than most any FWD car. Much more than the even bigger than the TL, ES 330.
If you can't fit in the new IS, something is wrong with you. Its still bigger in every dimension that the old model and besides overall LENGTH, the cars have equal width and wheelbase.
The reason the TL is LONGER it has those ungainly large front and rear overhangs, they tried they're best to make a FWD car LOOK RWD.
Finally, I can kind of understand your friend wanting a TL, it is designed ONLY for the American market, FOR Americans, BY Americans and BUILT in America. And they did they're HW as the TL after 3 years is still selling like hotcakes (great job Acura). In other words, they hit the nail on the head with the American market.
The IS on the other hand is a world car, with different philosophies in engineering.
