I really use the AVS in my ES300 a lot because the car needs it. It would be ideal if the new IS is smart enough to know when to tighten up and when to relax a bit on its own.
You really don't need AVS for a more direct sport sedan. This was the case with the IS300 as well.

Here are the prices of these options on the 2006 GS300. It probably won't be too different on the IS.

Premium Luxury Plus Package of the IS (with options price/standard on the GS300 in bold)

- Perforated leather trim: Standard
- Heated seats: Standard
- Ventilated seats: $200
- 10-way power seats: Standard
- Leather console: Standard
- Rear armrest storage: Standard (I think)
- Mirror functions (electrochromic, memory, reverse tilt-down): Standard
- Illuminated metal scuff plates: Standard
- Wood interior trim Standard
- Power rear sunshade $210
- Driver’s and front passenger’s seat memory: Standard
- HID: Standard
- AFS headlamps, Rain-sensing wipers, Headlamp washers: $525
- Power tilt/telescoping steering wheel with memory: Standard

One-Touch Open/Close Moonroof with Rotary-Dial Switch: $1000
Park Assist: $500

Total (without counting the what's standard on the GS300): $2435

Mark Levinson Audio System with Navigation: $4030

Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (A/T only): $2850

So for a "fully loaded" IS350 without PCS, the options total without counting all those things (leather, heated seats, power seats w/ memory, mirror functions, wood, xenons, power steering wheel w/ memory) that are standard on the GS300 could be $6465 .

Let's hope that the base price is lower than previously expected.

But as per the Accessory Codes I was provided, most of these are optional to the IS250/350:

- Perforated leather trim: Optional
- Heated seats: With Package
- Ventilated seats: WIth Package
- 10-way power seats: Optional
- Leather console: With Package
- Rear armrest storage: I don't think it's offered on the IS
- Mirror functions (electrochromic, memory, reverse tilt-down): Optional
- 17" or 18” wheels: 16" are Standard; all else are optional
- Illuminated metal scuff plates: Optional
- Wood interior trim WIth Package
- Power rear sunshade I don't think it's offered on the IS
- Driver’s and front passenger’s seat memory: With Package
- HID: Optional
- AFS headlamps, Rain-sensing wipers, Headlamp washers: Optional
- Power tilt/telescoping steering wheel with memory: Standard

One-Touch Open/Close Moonroof with Rotary-Dial Switch: Optional, and estimated around $900
Park Assist: Optional, and estimated around $500

Mark Levinson Audio System with Navigation: Optional, and estimated around $4000

Pre-Collision System (PCS) with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (A/T only): It's $600 on the RX, I believe

I think that the base IS will be really inexpensive, but to get all the accessories can get really pricey. My bet: Base IS250 will be around $29K, and Top-of-the-Line IS350 will be $44K...

RX doesn't have Dynamic Radar Cruise, it has the Laser Cruise which is only available on the Performance Package RX330.

Lexus did say they will follow the BMW formula, right? I mean you got your base 325 to which you can add like 10K worth of options. Thankfully Lexus won't charge extra for metalic paint!

Damn I thought that might be the case. I have ZERO interest in the aluminum interior trim but the cross drilled pedals, scuff plates, better suspension, etc all would be nice to have. Oh well guess I will have do go with the Premium lux package.

What I'm really bummed about is why can't you get the sport package with the illuminated scuff plates? That's just plain not right.

Wow that would be really cheap. Rumoured prices in the UK are £22,400 for a base IS250 which is about $40K. And we don't get the IS350.

of course, we all know this is because of different taxes, customs, etc? :-).

I am pretty sure that base IS wont be under 30k in the US.

And dont mix and match US and Euro options, Euro versions will have lower grade equipment as standard to keep the price down.

You can always opt for the Premium Luxury Package, and change the suspension out later.

For that, I would rather buy the base GS3 than a fully loaded 350.
