I bet either C&D or R&T or both are doing a 330i vs. IS350 vs. G35 vs. others comparo for their October issue. Should be a lot of fun.

They'll probably finish in that order too.

Hey flipside?
I heard from Lex_Dymndz (thanks!) that you're the one who first drove the IS250, right? Well, as I asked on my.is, I would like to know how the IS250 performs as Europe is not getting the 350 (at launch at least) ... All of the testdriver first drove the IS350 and that's not really an objective comparison to the current IS. It sure spoils the driver when he first testdrive the 350...

Any impressions to share? Thanks!

Yes Lex Dymnds, SilverAltezza and I were together when we drove these 2 cars. We had the IS250 AWD version to try out. I'd like to say straight line performance is on par with the current IS300 auto we have now. But with the addition of AWD, the car felt very confident in the twisty backroads we drove them on. I wish we had more time to drive them on light unpaved roads or even a snowy/sandy situation. But for the most part, it was a very confident ride in the IS250 AWD. TheAWD sits a tad higher higher than the regular RWD IS250. The 6spd auto is surprisingly smooth. If you aren't paying attention, it's very easy to get to 80mph without noticing. I will put up my review and thoughts soon. More to come.

Definitely good news to hear.
I guess all the reviews that complained about the lack of a good exhaust note (which is pretty much every review so far except those by Peter Lyon) were just saying so from a driver's point of view and without rolling down the windows. But now it seems that, at least to the onlookers, the new IS will sound just as sporty as any sports car.

Hello,

First of all just wanted to say that I've been trolling this board for quite some time and think that everybody has great views and fair opinions on things.

I've was looking to purchase a 05 TL until I was rudely pushed away by my local acura dealer. I've since discovered the new IS and just put down my deposit today!!!! My question is is the 250 AWD too weak of a car??? I'm not really interested in an overly powerful car, but I don't want a car that is a slug.

Also, you think it is possible to get one with navi for around 35k???

Thanks for your responses.

I don't think that the 250 will be underpowered; I just think it won't fall under a "performance" category.

And if the 250 AWD starts at around $30K, you should get the Nav (without the Mark Levinson upgrade) and have it all at around $35K.

I was kinda suprised that there were no pics taken of the interior, front seats, back seats, trunk, adjust front seat for driver then open both doors & take pic of passanger in rear seat for us to see.

Are there other pics that were taken but not posted? Also are there higher resolution pics? 40-60k is ok but I like to see high res if available.
