Then I would have expected the spec to say single slot DVD drive. Which is what I assume it is.

This is from the Lexus dealer we have purchased several cars from and mentioned this is the best they could do.

When I found out that XM or Sirius would not be available for the new IS at launch, I was bumming, but now I don't think I would spend that much for it.
is there any monthly fee for xm and sirus radio??
or free???

Some dealers offer the first six months for free, but there is a monthly fee after that.

It's $12.95 per month for XM Radio or Sirius (with discounts if you sign-up for more than one year). You also get a discount if you have multiple subscriptions.

Although I don't have it in my car, I understand that the four major benefits of paid satellite radio services are:
1. Digital quality. This means that it suffers from no quality degradation over the transmission of the audio content, unlike traditional analog radio.
2. Available program information. Brief text descriptions of the programs being broadcasted can be viewed on the screen. No more guessing which singer or what song is being played.
3. Large selection of stations. By receiving the programs from satellites the station selections are no longer limited to those within the local radio range. You always get the same hundreds of radio stations nation-wide wherever you drive to.
3. No commercial. You pay for your services so they don't need to make money from advertising. Fair enough.

That said, I'll probably stick to my good ol' high-quality CD collection on the road.

If you don't want to pay $500 for a satellite tuner, just get any XM or Sirius unit (approx $50-100) and connect it to the aux. You can purchase a special unit that can hold the tuner in the cup-holder, which is right in front of the center console, and in reach while you drive. You can do the same thing with any MP3 player.

It may not be the best aesthetically, but you do get very good (not excellent) quality music without the commercials. It saves my sanity in L.A. traffic...

anyone know what the spare looks like? i did a comparision and it said that it had a temporary steel, but i thought when the spare matches the wheel its a fullsize matching alloy like. so when u get a flat? u got to drive around on that ugly non-matching wheel? or are the wheels on the new IS off-set? like bigger in the rear?

the first three months are free and your monthly rate after that depends on how long a contract you sign up for. The standard is $12.95 a month....

Nope...all voluntary.

Motivation = Lexus & Toyota products. You can say I live, breathe and eat Lexus all day and everday haha.

Why post? Because people like to share experiences!
