Oct Car & Driver Comparison (0-60 in 5.1 seconds)#1 330, #2 IS 350// Scans pg 6

WOW! 5.1...that's quick! C&D do like to invoke a lot of punishment to the car on launches to get low numbers (but since this is an automatic, all you can do is brake torque). If the forthcoming 6-spd will break the 5-sec barrier, I'm in!

Edmunds inside line tested the M3 at only 5.5 sec. 0-60mph LINK HERE You don't know how "slow " the M3 can be huh ? There are a couple more >5 sec times for the M3 HERE and HERE , and I'm sure there are more if you really look.
We all know that M3 had been tested as low as 4.6 sec. 0-60 mph, but I don't think we can conclude all those sub-5 seconds times tested for the M3 are suspect, just as the fact that edmunds tested the IS350 at 6 sec. does not make the 5.1 sec.by C & D suspect.
There's nothing unusual about different sources getting a wide range of results tested under different conditions with different drivers, the faster times are neither more nor less REAL than the slower ones.

New M3 should be brutal and straight out kill everything else in the same class. But at the same time, it is one class higher than IS350 and should not be compared to it. Maybe next ISh will have something to match its power...

what i would challenge is though, will we see faster speed from the is350 later on than the 5.1 we see here? i can't say definitely, but i am guessing "no". maybe someone will be crazy enough to do test of the is350 against the m3 if they feel the is350 is that much over the 330i, and we will see how it goes.
but i think you are taking my post the wrong way though. the reason i posted about the m3 was to say that although the m3 ONLY has 333hp, it can do mid 4. that means the is350 with relatively close hp and more tq, i am NOT surprised that it's doing low 5!!!!

as to the posts about crazy CD numbers for IS, thank god this was an comparo with other cars persent. G35 and TL times were quite comparable to normal results and show just how much faster IS350 is.
If this was single test of IS350, obviously it could have been very suspect... but it wasnt - there were other cars on the track, driven under same conditions and same drivers.
