I do agree though auto trannies are much more efficient than before, but I bet if you look at the over drive 5th gear in the manual vs the automatics in question the autos 5th gear and final drive is taller than the manual. Auto trannies do have torque convertor lock ups, but until it does lock up it is still slipping and can't be as efficient as a fully engauged clutch.
In IS250, I think manual version is some 30lbs heavier...
