Question Any VA/DC/MD buyer? Dealer, spec, & price

Any VA/DC/MD buyer in this board?
Look for buyer experience and price deal around this area.
Any input will be appecricated as I am going to be a new owner.

Planning for IS 250 + Lux + Nav

Default Out of State Taxes

When you buy a car from out of state, where do you pay the taxes?

Example: I'm from NJ w/ a 6% sales tax rate, and I drive to VA to purchase my car.. that has a 3% sales tax. Does that mean that I can save 3% on my taxe cost?

Well worth the 300.00 trip to save 1200.00 in taxes.

You pay taxes in the state you register your car. So if you have a house out in VA, and are able to register it in that state, you will pay 3% tax. If not, as soon as you drive back to NJ and visit your local DMV, they will stick you w/ a 6% sales tax...

Since when does registration have anything to do with taxes? In NJ we pay taxes when we title the vehicle, there's a place on the title stating selling/purchase prince.. unless it works differently in other states?!?

Here in MA, we also pay taxes based on where the car is registered. We pay the MA sales tax (5%) regardless of where the vehicle is actually purchased.

we go tthe 250 for 34400 otd with everything you got but nav so if you add another 2500 it doesn't get up to 38. just bargin more.
would you mind telling me where you got yours from? My mother-in-law is looking at getting a 250 and not NAV. We'd love to hit up the same sales guy if we can get the same deal

About $1300 off mrsp. not bad since It was a new model and nothing was sitting on dealer lots. This is my 2nd BMW. I think the is350 is a great car, but IMO Lexus missed the boat on price. It should have been 3k cheaper and then they could have stole some BMW buyers. I love my wifes RX 330 more then I would like to admit but, BMW's are just more fun to drive! If the is was 3k cheaper and came with a 6spd man. I would have also been driving a Lexus but as soon as I heard no Man trans I ordered my E90 without even thinking of price. I am glad that I did not wait for the pricing. Good luck to all future IS owners you will have a great car!
i dont think they missed the boat on the price but they missed the boat on the manual. Officially the msrp on the new 330 is around 38, but according to the build site they wanted 2000 to get leather + metallic paint. So because of that I see the official MSRP to be around 40k to match a base IS350 which has leather and doesnt charge for the metallic paint. So about 4-4.5k less and 50 more hp sounds like a great deal to me

I've tried the dealers in VA, TN, and NC and they have all told me the same thing: they are selling at MSRP/"Market Value". Initially, I was wondering if Lexus was price fixing and not letting dealers compete with each other, but, apparently this is not the case. I even told a few dealers that I would place a custom order with them if they would discount the price to make it worth the extra 3-4 hour drive time and no one took me up on it. I was kind of shocked, because instead of getting a guaranteed easy sale, they lost a sale. Go figure...

I got lexus of richmond to give me $1000 off. If you want a good salesman who won't make ****** up get Robert Norton. I've tried a couple of ones there and he was the only guy I liked. He is kinda of new but I think that helped. Also, he was willing to try and get me any deal I wanted (didn't necessarily get all of them) and threw in a good amount of extra goodies.

AVALEX all they would discount is 1k off MSRP? I need something in the neighborhood of 2500 of though. You see I have a choice of flying out to Sarasota, FL or flying out to VA where my friend lives and it would actually be a worthwhile trip. But 1k off isnt worth it really. I tried emailing every dealer in VA. Two responded that they couldnt match any prices but a tad under MSRP...

Yeah, sorry man. Let me know if you can get that $2500 off (and where!). I just got my pricing this afternoon, so I can still change my mind if I find something better. However in Va it is really hard to find good deals.

I picked up my IS 350 last month for $2,500 over invoice. My car had Navi, Premium, Preferred, and 18" wheels. Most dealers in the Bay Area responded nicely to $3,000 over invoice, but I pushed a few lower.
