I just ordered my 250 RWD auto w/ 18's and ML in Pittsburgh at Rohrich Lexus.

Initially I talked them down to 750 off the price, then they screwed up the lease calculations and lowered the overall price an additional 200.

So in total i got the car for 950 under MSRP.

If I was still living in Richmond or C-ville, that would have been better than nothing, but hardly worth the 5 hour one way trip for me now. I was also looking for $2000-$2500 off, guess we'll have to go to Cali to save some big money.

I tried emailing every dealer in VA. Two responded that they couldnt match any prices but a tad under MSRP...
Heh. Forget trying to get money off in VA... there's too much $$$ floating around for dealers to need to waste their time giving discounts.

I had luck with Coliseum Oakland, Marin, Serramonte, Fremont, and Pleasanton. Not as much with Concord and Stevens Creek.

I emailed each dealer and requested $3K over. Then, when 5/7 were interested, I then upped the ante to $2.5K over and then it became manageable to select a dealer.

One dealer was still having the pipe dream that they didn't have to go below sticker price. I can't fathom why they could walk away from $2,500 + holdback instead of holding out for $5,000. Their loss, I guess.

I just picked up my IS350 yesterday from Coliseum Lexus of Oakland and worked with Lukman Dotson, a pretty decent sales rep.

After a couple rounds of negotiation, got $1000 off MSRP, free spoiler ($355), free Preferred Accessory Package ($195), Free rubber mats ($94). Final price: $43,235 (including dest. charges) for a Glacier Frost IS350, Luxury Package, Navi+ML.

$1000 off. The prices are still pretty tight, especially as this car seems to have a huge gap between invoice and MSRP ($4664 on the car I configured). That means I need to get $3664 off MSRP to get to what I feel is a reasonable deal for both parties.

I'm with you. I'm in no hurry at all to purchase a car. I can wait as long as a year to get a new IS. Once I see people getting discounts of at least $3500 off MSRP then I will be ready to puchase. I'm sure around October of this year we might see people getting $3500 off MSRP. Maybe I will get a 2007 IS this december.

Don't get your hopes up. I got ~$2,500 off MSRP with just a few emails to dealers in the Bay Area. In addition, I'd be surprised if Lexus doesn't have a price increase between now and next year--I think it's likely.

Unless Lexus is different from every other car company they will be more than happy to get $1000 over invoice for a car. There are special circumstances right now because the car is new and in demand, but when that subsides.

Also I see a lot of talk here about money off MSRP, that is not how you buy a car. MSRP is worthless, all car negotiation should be up from invoice not down from MSRP.

I think this piece of "advice" is blown out of proportion. Last time I checked, both invoice and MSRP were both documented fixed prices. It's irrelevant whether or not the negotiation language focuses on an amount above invoice or below MSRP. The meaningful advice should be for the buyer to understand what the invoice price is to better inform their negotiations.

If I want to buy a car for $36,000 that has an invoice of $35,000 and a MSRP of $40,000--does it really matter whether I tell the dealer I want $4,000 off sticker or that I am willing to pay $1,000 above invoice? I'm still offering to pay $36,000 regardless of how it is phrased.

youre probably going to get a lot of good deals in port towns with a lot of competing dealerships..
so anyone in LBC.. Florida.. are probably getting more off MSRP than the rest of us.
also supply/demand in your region really dictates the amount of discount you would be able to get (or not)..
i am glad to get 1k off msrp in dallas, as there are ZERO IS350's on lots. all sell before they hit lots.
