The fact that Lexus vehicles are somewhat reliable has no bearing on the value of the car. You are competing with other Lexus IS 350s of similar years, mileage, and options. The fact that you do not have the luxury and nav packages makes your car worth less than those that do, about $3k less for that matter.

Your best bet is to do your research: look at Edmunds, followed by websites like Auto Trader and Cars.com. This will give you a ballpark. This is what I did to give you a ball park price in my previous post. Your next step will be to take the car to dealerships to get a few offers. Remember that they will low ball you b/c business is business and they will need to make a profit of a few grand.

Default 2009 IS 350 15K specs revised

VTsuckah While it has no nav - it DOES HAVE " premium Package", "X package", " preferred accessory package", "rear lip spoiler", "high intensity healdlights"," 2 year lexus extended Platinum warranty"

i could find no other cars like this to compete with???? so i would assume i will get an additional 3K . is that correct?

No. The "X" package that is present in your car only provides different 5 spoke wheels, illuminated door sills, sport suspension (stiffer shocks/springs), aluminum gas/brake/dead pedals, and a front lip. You are missing many of the desirable options found in the luxury packages and nav package. i.e. no heated/cooled memory seats, no rain-sensing wipers, no auto dim/tilt side mirrors, etc.

The fact that you do not have navigation alone will detract from the price tag of the car. To dealerships and independent used car dealers, the other items that you have listed are of no consequence. No navigation will decrease the market value of your car $2-3k as compared to a like year and like mileage model with navigation.

Take the car to a local Carmax to see what they would pay you for it. That'll give you a good data point to start with when you get around to selling the car.

Just got back from the dealership today. My wife and I traded in our 2008 IS250 for a 2006 IS350.

Here was the pricing that we got on both vehicles (when we bought the 2008).

We bought the '08 about 1.5 years ago. It was a base, but the interior was clean. We paid 17k out the door... it had 105k miles.

Today, we traded in the '08 for 11.5k and got the '06 350. Out the door we spent 15,350. It only has 77k miles on it, and in addition it has all the nice features (Nav/Heat and cooled seats/HID/Rear Sunshade). However, two downsides to it... it has had 2 insurance claims on the car about 2 years ago. One of which, I believe to be a minor issue. The other was actually reported in an accident, The carfax said damage to the rear and either to the front/side. It is a clean title and not a salvage. In addition, the interior is not as clean as the IS250.

And the 2 best things about the new IS350... It is white (versus black).... and it has 100 more horsepower.

The accident does worry about future resale though... Any thoughts?

You know what! I have a 2012 IS250 same mileage 1 year ago. I have all these features + F Sport package + F Sport accessories (intake 450 MSRP + exhaust 1400 MSRP) + clear bra front (600) + 100,000 miles/8 years warranty (almost $2000). The dealer offered $26k a year ago when I wanted to trade in for the IS350 F Sport 2014.
That is 1 year ago and they only offered 26k for my trade in. I said NO and keep the IS250 and bought the used IS350 instead.

30k for the car you mentioned is an overprice. I would say it should be in the low 20ish from a dealer.

So a good deal would be 10-15% off the KBB dealer CPO value? Aka $25k-$27k?

Yeah, that sounds about right. Have you also considered older year with more mileage on IS350? You can get the IS350 in your 25k-27k budget.

Thanks! I know it. Bought it from Lexus of Wilmington. Price was originally $29,778. RWD cars do not sell that well around here when an equivalent AWD version is available so I used that to my advantage!
