1. 2005 JDM IS350
2. RWD
3. Silver
4. 18s
5. Bought a carbon fiber wing. Still need to put on.
6. Dark grey
7. Right-hand drive! Has radar cruise control.
8.
9. Canada

One of the first, if not the first 2005 IS350 imported from Japan into Canada under the 15 year import rule. Bought it in June, but had to wait until it turned 15 years old to bring here. Just picked it up the other day in Saskatoon! Bought a carbon fiber spoiler, and new VLAND tail lights so far.

Nice looking IS. Interesting to see that the transmission shift gate on the RHD car is a mirror image of the LHD version.

Is there something on the Japanese version that makes them more desirable than the Canadian version?

Default 1st Lexus

My second car. Coming from the Honda Accord side. Picked her up in Tampa in June for $4k. She was in bad shape when I got her. But I love this car 🤩 Fixing her up has taught me so much about cars and it’s so much more rewarding when you do the work yourself 👍🏼

1. 2007 IS350
2. RWD
3. Obsidian Black
4. 18 inch OEM wheels
5. Came with oem spoiler but I replaced with duckbill
6. Beige
7. I wanted to keep the Lexus comfort factor while making this car more capable on the road/track. Redspencers build has inspired me a lot 👍🏼. So far I have put in an F sport intake, F sport sway bars, vland headlights and taillights, duckbill spoiler, 2011 F sport power steering ECU, ISF steering damper, RCF lower control arm bushings etc

Thanks! Well, to be honest, I am not sure. I wanted one because there weren't any RHD models in North America and from what I read and heard, they are reliable. Also, they appear to have slightly higher HP numbers (314HP) than their North American variant. Whether that's true, I don't know. The car also speaks in Japanese when I first start it, so that's pretty cool.

Speaking of reliability, I’m curious, what’s the undercarriage rust situation like on that car? Just wanted to compare against a Canadian one that has had its fair share of salted roads..

Also, if you don’t mind me asking, how did the purchase + shipping + any import duty costs compare against a similar local vehicle? Would you be able to share some $$ numbers? Thank you!

For sure. Here's the breakdown:

Cost of the car: $2,901
Freight using a Ro-Ro: $1,847
Customs fees and GST: $954
PST: $400
Cost of a broker: $1,000
= $7,107 CAD

The car has 122,000 kilometers and I haven't noticed any rust. I haven't had it on the lift yet for the safety inspection and to take pictures underneath, but here are a few pictures from when it was in Japan.

If you plan on doing appearance modding....stay away from 2009-2010 models. Less options compared to the 2006-2007 & 2011-2013. Hard to come by front lip/ body kit options, aftermarket or Fsport grills, etc.

Other than that, overall they are essentially the same car with different factory OEM front bumpers/ lights/ mirrors, spoiler options....depending on the year

Looks to be in great condition, I'm impressed. Even the pinch welds seem to be in top shape haha. Thank you for the breakdown as well, and enjoy the new ride!

What a find!!! I wish I could find one of these that was so well cared for. Currently searching for an IS F, but I wouldn't pass on the right MT 2IS.
