Default Headrests question

Does anyone know if you can retrofit some type of headrest into the IS? The headrests in the car cannot pivot toward your head, thus are useless. I like to drive with my head against the headrest on the highway. Any mods for this?

Useless? The purpose of headrests are to prevent your head from snapping off your neck in a rearend collision, not to rest your head on them.

true. if you rest your head on them it makes for a less alert state of driving.

I don't think I've ever used the headrests for resting my head, come to think... front OR rear

How would u like me to say this thread is useless? It is useful, as are the headrests. I changed your thread title

I'm sure you can find some shop to make them. My RX330 (I bought it from the original owner) has retrofitted headrests with integrated monitor and they pivot (he gave me the origianl headrests, too). Some Toyota's, as well as other makes, do have piotable headrests; so it's not a safety issue (as far as inducing drowsiness goes). They are all safe as long as you keep the headrests at least at ear level. Some headrests (Volvo, for example) even move forward in the event of a rearend collision to decrease the distance of head travel, and thus velocity/impact. I personally don't rest my head on the headrest while driving, but I know some people who insist on that. Just a personal preference.
