Sweet! And Im assuming you can play mp3 DVDs while you are driving? (ie: you dont need the parking brake on to play the dvd)

Unfortunately, I don't have the ML system but I would assume that you can play MP3 DVDs while driving just as you can with MP3 CDs.

Thanks so much for sharing those.

That display looks very sharp and clear.

Great pics, very useful as I have been wondering about the mp3 interface. What about the Ipod display, I heard there is no info or control through the audio system, strictly through the player, which ain't good.

In order to view DVD Video, the parking brake must be depressed. But you can listen to the DVD Video soundtrack only or DVD Audio while you are driving.

That is correct. The Aux INput is not an ipod exclusive only feature. You can plug in any other mp3 player or other audio equipment to listen throught the car speakers. There are no ipod controls on the factory pioneer or ML systems.

I see Lexus updating this in the future, maybe 2007 model year? But that leads into the video craze, now ipods can play video movies, this would be a no/no on the nav screen.

I've seen 3rd party iPod controllers for other Toyota radios. They use the SAT input to control the iPod. You get full control, playlists, and track info on the screen. I'm sure something like that will show up for the IS in the near term. Here's the Prius version...

The display for audio and MP3's etc isn't all that. It only displays ~16 characters and it's the file name not the metadata (for some reason I'm blanking on the term for the embedded artist/song data) etc. I'm not sure why it doesn't show more characters, there is certainly ample room and it doesn't even scroll the name.

My other gripe is that if you put it on "random" it will only play randomly if you let the song play to the end and move to the next. If you skip to the next song, it will literally be the next song on the disc and not another random song. This doesn't make sense to me. If I wanted the next song, I'd turn the random function off. Maybe I'm doing something wrong (I haven't read through the inch thick NAV manual 100%) but it's probably just poor design.
