Default Aftermarket HID Kit

Is anyone going to install aftermarket HID kit on their car? I already placed an order for McCulloch 5000k HID kit. Any suggestion?

I'd suggest Xenon Depot, had great experience with them on my old '03 4Runner, kit should cost around 300 if i remember correctly.

While I already have the factory HID headlights, I am planning on replacing the factory fog lights with HIDs as soon as they become available.

That kit is usually around $300 and available online through a variety of vendors.

How hard is it to install one of these kits? Will it look just like factory? A friend of mine in college installed them in his Civic SI (I don't know why), and they seemed to go out all the time. I'm hoping a professional install would alleviate this problem.

What about replacing just the bulbs and not getting a true HID kit? Is that any good?

Question

Can someone find out what size bulbs the new IS is using? I would like to purchase them before I pick up my IS250 AWD. If someone has already put them in the car, any tips/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks
-Mike

that's the same size for RX330--which means your selection will be limited. You won't find halogen H11 replacement (regular or blue bulbs such as Silverstar) at auto part stores, either.

damn i wonder why a lot of cars get to h11 these days, that's the only bulb for halogen projectors? i love the old school 9006.

anyway, it's definitely limited. i think xenon depot does have h11 hid kits?

When you order the HID kit, make sure u pick H11 for bulb size. They come with all different bulb size.

Thanks for the info guys. Wish Lexus made the car with standard HIDs, I guess it's their way to make more money from the already expensive 40K price tag. What bulbs do the fogs use by the way?

It's not so that they make more money on the car, but so they keep the base price down. Even MB, BMW and Porsche make HID's optional. Some people just don't care for HID's or fancy stereo, even in a 60k car.

difference is Lexus is has their HID's into a $3500 package, whereas w/ BMW you can just add HID's for $800.
