IS sales number Oct 05
Toyota/Lexus pressroom:
IS 300/IS 250/IS 350: 2,563 (05), 556 (04), 378.7% increase
Inline with the expectation I think.

Hehe, yeah I bet they sell (within days/week) nearly every vehicle of the few few ones they have right off the bat. Most of the ones at my dealership have a sold sign in them.

The bigger story is the 40% drop in the LS430, the 22% drop in ES330,plus the 33%& 21% drop in the SUV's.
Also the GS300 have 60 less HP thas IS350 and more money so their appeal has to have dropped. Lexus dealers are going to have to start moving cars. Even if they sell their enitre allocation of IS's for the next couple of months. I would expect big discounts on all models except IS at December sales event.

Well this October was a bad month for car sales in general, at least Lexus' moved up some percentage overall. We'll see what the yearly trends are. I still think the IS will grow the Lexus brand, more than it cannibalizes Lexus sales from other models.

In fact, Lexus/Toyota is one of the few brands that managed to raise sales year on year basis for October.

There was no 250/350 last year so those numbers don't mean much do they?

Go to Car Chat, look at our sticky with Oct car sales for EVERYONE, Lexus/Toyota did very well as most car makers had a loss last month

considering that the new 06 i-s was released on oct 14.. and had only the last 2 weeks of the month to sell w/ limited initial supply, i think that number is very good! for november and december, you may see the quantity of 06 i-s' possibly double (hitting the 4,500 - 5,000 a month mark)
