Default Cupholders

Could someone who owns a new IS give us a picture or at least a description of the cupholders in the car? I have searched through and can't seem to find any.

Since I am in sales, I practically live in my car. If the cupholders are awful, like say the BMW or Audi ones, the car loses a lot of points in my book so I was just wondering.

Thanks

The ones in bmw and audi are awful because americans are the only ones who insist on eating and drinking in their cars. Germans concentrate on driving. Those cupholders are after-thoughts designed just for us. lol

But as an american I see your point.
The cupholder seems decent in the IS.... but no real world experience for me yet....

I don't think you can fit a mug with a handle into them. but everything else should work fine. the best part is the door-bin bottle holders. they are excellent

I'm pretty sure there are 3 cup holders that the driver can reach. One on the driver side door, one on the center rest, and one under the center storage compartment.

Do not expect to fit a lot in these holders, esp the one in the center. The one in the center storage compartment, i believe is covered in what appears to be felt, which deters me from wanting to put any container having liquid in it.

Yeah the two side door bottle holders are nice. The center one in front of the shift is quite small, and I think can fit cans only or something that size. The center arm rest also has one but I think it's similar size to the center shift one. In the back there are two pop out holders that come from the center arm rest that folds down.

I like the clean look of the center console, but it would be nice to have a slightly larger cupholder, as the one next to the shift only fits cans. if there is going to be just one, it seems like it could be slightly larger, im not talking double big gulp or anything, but maybe larger water bottle...

For water bottles, just use the side door...

My slender coffee mug shown would not fit in the small center cup holder.

It's not hard to use the door ones since you can pull it out a bit. Then again I don't use my cup holders except to hold my phone. Is it me or is this car lacking a change holder, or I'm just blind?

So the armrest needs to be raised when you use the larger cup holder?

Yeah, I don't use my center cupholder except for my phone. I'm too scared to let any drinks in my car because most likely I'll be the one who spills the drink all over the place. Also the cupholder within my center console I use to hold my change because it's too hard to get change out of the ash tray.
