Default Lexus Emblems

Does anyone know if there are holes behind the emblems on rear (ie. Lexus, IS250, IS350)?

Is it possible to take them off and leave it clean?

Not sure about the IS250 or IS350, but on the GS300 and GS430, there are holes.

My question is... can you take them off, say for painting, and easily reinstall them without damage?

yep, just use some dental floss to loosen the emblem from the car. maybe use a hair dryer or heat gun to warm up the adhesive. you'll need more double sided tape to put them back on.

but the emblems on the 06 gs have holes, so i think it's going to be the same thing for the new IS. kinda bummer for some people i guess.

if you want to put them back on, you need to use the 3m industrial adhesive double sided tape, not just normal double sided tape

and to take them off, dental floss is more than enough. with the holes, you will need to fill them and repaint the whole trunk lid if you want to do it right. aftwards if you want to put back the emblems, you will need to cut the nipples and just stick the thing on

So you cant just stick them on with the nipples and the holes still there? I wouldnt wanna go through all that but was thinking to paint them black.

i guess you could paint them black, but i wonder how well the paint will stck even if you sand them down. or just wait to see if they come out with the black pearl emblems for it.

yes you can take them off and put them back on no problem

but paint them black? not sure if that's a good idea. i think the paint might peel pretty easily even if you sand and prime them (and sanding them isn't easy). plus it won't be even close to what dark chrome looks like

I don't understand why a regular car driver would debadge their new car unless they wanted to hide the fact that they purchased a lower trim model, like IS_250 did with his car.

Probably b/c it looks cleaner, but I agree with you, and I'd never debadge my GS300.

it's personal preference. some people they want the car to look cleaner, and some they want to be sleeper
