Default Couple of Navi questions

I was wondering if the dealer/lexus includes the cd's of maps for the navigation. I asked the dealer about whether or not the car comes with the DVD maps and he said that it is already preloaded and I do not need any cd. Is that true that I don't get any cd's for the navi?

Another question is:
Does anybody know what makes it that for navigation to play DVD movies it needs Mark Levinson? Could it be possible in the future that someone can find a hack for the non-ML navigation IS?

Thanks for any input

?! it's s *dvd* nav, it uses dvd disc, which contains all maps and information of the whole US. please correct me if i am wrong. even my 05 sc430 it has dvd nav, and the dvd contains all info already. some sales people at dealership they are amazing

if i correct, if you don't get the ml, you don't get the 6 dvd in dash changer. you only get a 6 disc cd changer. so for sure it can't play dvd movies. i guess the dvd decoding and such is together with the ml system. basically there is no hack i guess. you can't get a cd player to play dvd

Default There are two Mark Levinson packages..

but only one of them will play a DVD.(with the parking brake set) That additional feature costs $500 more (VN Package). We have an aftermarket installer that has used the Nav Screen in an SC430 to play DVD movies while in motion or not. That is pretty trick. Not very safe though.....

Although the NAVI is DVD-based (the drive is behind the digital clock as someone posted earlier), a DVD player (comes with ML only) is required to play DVD discs.
