Default 2nd gen instrument panel lighting

I've read a few grumblings that the nighttime lighting for the radio/hvac controls are green but the speedo/tach is white. Is this true? Do you like it?

What about those with nav? Does the colors on the screens make it fit in better?

I really like the colors on the instrumentation as well as the center controls. The screen on the navi can be change to blue or gold compliment.

Here are the night shots if you missed it a few days ago. Click the link below.

Yes it's true, no it's not that noticable as you're driving...the color differences are very subtle and compliment the interior well.

When do tail brake lights glow 'full' like the ones in your pictures.... versus glowing partial (only outer bulbs) like these ones?

When you at least have the parking lights on or when the headlights are engaged.

the lights inboard of the white backup lights don't glow at all--wonder if those are the rear fog lights in Europe?

I have yet to see the interior at night in real life, but I think Toyota chose green for the buttons so it wouldn't look so monotonous (for better or worse). It's the same color scheme in the GS and LS, is it not?

I am searching for a site I came across. This site has instructions on how to replace the IS 300 dash lights with Blue LED bulbs. I also saw the following kit on e-Bay. I wonder if there is a way the "ugly" green lights around the Nav. can be changed to blue or white using some sort of kit? Does anyone know?

This post from the IS 1st generation forum. Wondering if they can also do the 2nd generation center console lights as well.

No the 2nd gen uses real lexus guages meaning that they are electroluminscent. It doesnt use regular bulbs or even leds.

I know Lexus uses electroluminescent for the speed and RPM gauges, but are we 100% sure that the same hold true for the center console as well? Where that ugly "green" is.

Thanks

I'm sure all the green lighting around the console could be replaced but wouldn't you have to rip out all the console to do that? Would seem like a pretty big task.

Yeah.... It's almost worth it just to make everything solid - but again, like someone said earlier, you hardly notice.

Well, all valid points. I would need to find if there is someone with the professional experience who will be able to do this. I hope this will not alter the "warranty" of the car.
