Default Is250/350 Trivia Question

Which "interior" feature differentiates the IS 250 from the IS 350? Just curious to see if anyone really knows the second generation IS? Good Luck

im gonna gues and say the 250 is a manual and the 350 isnt

I think the hump you're talking about is from IS250 AWD only. And also the GS300 AWD.

Actually the Smog filter is available on the IS250, they were there on the pre-production IS250 AWD we drove in August and were on the IS250 AWDs we drove at Taste of Lexus yesterday in Irvine. It's the auto recirculate/fresh vent setting that's only available on the IS350.

I think the button is in all vehicles but not the sensor. Every piece of literature says "smog sensor IS350-only". Where did you see that it's in the 250?

There would be no point in putting a button on a car if it has no function. That's not the Lexus way. The literature including the website stats have many typos and does not clarify alot of marginal things that are listed. I saw it in person that the smog sensor is available on the IS250. Both of the IS250's I saw these on happened to be loaded luxury packaged IS250 AWD with ML/NAV and PCS/Radar Cruise, one pre-production and one production model.

In addition, if Lexus used the mentality of leaving erroneous buttons on the dash, there should be an AUTO setting for the recirculate/fresh vent control which clearly is not available on the IS250.

Actually the sales education say "extra" smog sensor on 350. So there would probably be no way to prove or disprove such a claim.

i have the the filtration button confused with the Smog Sensor. The Auto function of the RECIRC/FRESH vent control automatically shuts off the FRESH vents when smog particulates are detected.

Info courtesy of Lexus College Page 38....

5. Micro dust and pollen filter
a. std all models
b. increases portion of RECIRC air
c. driver selectable

6. Smog Sensor
a. std on IS 350
b. detects high HCs at fresh air intake
1) excessively rich exhaust from vehicle ahead,
2) methane concentrations, etc
c. special RECIRC mode
1) reduces fresh air intake
2) maximizes air exhausted from cabin
3) automatically returns to driver’s selected mode when
atmosphere is normal
d. HC sensitivity is selectable
