Default noticed a "watermark" like spot

hey guys just noticed a spot under the passenger side door handle, looks like it is inside the paint...

anyone notice this on their IS's???

not noticeable to other people, but I can see it loud and clear. Called the dealership and they said they would look at it.

if this is in the paint, can anything be done??? (smaller than a penny in size)

TIA

Hard to say what it is without seeing a picture. You may want to move this over to the detailing forum - someone over there might have an idea. It sounds like a waterspot to me, if that's the case it will be easy to remove.

Question Watermark

How long have you had your car? Yeah, some pics would help.

An etched waterspot won't rub off. I'm not saying that's what it is, have to see it.

Take it back to dealer and question them?

Isn't that some sort of identification thing, so thieves can't rub, burn or scrap off the Vin or something? Or did I just make that up? Why were you you looking there?

Try clay barring it off. If it doesn't come off with that it may not come off.

Ouch that looks nasty. Defninitely visible. Does it seem like it's something on the surface of the paint?

not sure, been so damned cold here I can't take my time and check it out. Dealer said they'd look at it, but don't know what they will do. I hope it will "buff right out"

BTW it is soooo noticeable because I used a flash up close in my garage.....not as bad during regular conditions (only bad in my eyes)

I still say to try and clay bar it out. It will save you the heart ache of having to wait to get to the dealership. Plus clay bar is the shiz.

I'll have to try that. Other than this painful little problem, I really love the car.
