I suppose black may be just as common as SGM, black will ALWAYS be better looking when clean and show more dirt. SGM is just a little different but I don't know, it's just a little drab at times, EVEN though it's MUCH less maintenance than SGM!?

I'd go for black. I have smoky granite (by a different name, but same color ) on my RX330. It looks nice when the car is clean and the weather is sunny; otherwise it looks like "dirty black" as you said. Of course with black you have to keep it clean to look nice, too.

I have BO SC400, I can tell you it looks sharp, yeah it is work to keep clean but the result is worth it. The thing I don't like about the SGM is it looks dirty when it's not.

Check out these BO IS pics and this will change your mind, look how sharp BO looks, just keep it waxed up real good and it will be less work.

So I went to the dealership today,
saw the SGM after sunset, and have
to admit, having had a black car all
my life, it looked kind of drab.
Then, I had them take it inside, and
later I went back and used the flash.
It's SO good in the light, the metallic
comes to life, it's like black and silver
PERFECTLY mixed. Bottom line, I'm
NO further along than I was before...
They can get a black on black in a
week or so--they think. I KNOW
black will be MUCH more work,
I know I'll probably regret whichever
color I don't choose. But in the end,
I have an IS350, so it's a good
predicament to be in. Now if only
the banks didn't own my car!
Here are some more pics, including
a poorly lit shoot of a black IS300
wheel well, next to it at the dealer.
Of course, any further advice is
ALWAYS appreciated!

Best,
Michael

It says SOLD, so you bought the SGM? It's nice that the dealer is really working with you to make sure you are 100% sure of your decision.

So when are you gonna decide? Were just spectators, you have to make the decision.

STOP WITH ALL THESE PICS. ES3, you are making me debate my decision to go with SGM!

Both black and sgm look great... I guess it is too late for me to change my special order now anyways

Ha, yeah, there are some good pics. I bet you can change your color choice. But be advised as gorgeous as SGM looks, it'll never be as dark as black AND in the shade, IMO the SGM does look a bit drab.

FYI, the SOLD sign is just for while I decide. The dealership is being VERY helpful and patient as they realize this is my first ever NEW car purchase and they want me to be happy! Many of those at the dealership say black will be more hellish, especially with all the road salt, but they also agree that when it's clean it's out of this world!?

SGM looks absolutely stunning in the sunlight, although you are right, in the shade or when it is cloudy outside it doesnt have the same sparkle

I havent seen it at night so I cant comment on that

I have the answer for you, buy a 250 in your 2nd color choice and a 350 in your first color choice. Problem solved. Tell the dealer you'll take both.
