That thing is scary, but not my cup of tea......I guess I'm getting too old.

wow... that's a great time... i wonder how fast the gs350's will be... mid 14s? makes me kinda wish i waited before i got my gs3. I drove the is350 at taste of lexus, and man... i was impressed.

1. Let's wait to see how many IS owners can actually replicate this one, outlier, quartermile time that one mag clicked off.
2. I'm not sure how you conclude that its "safe" to say that it is quicker than the above-mentioned cars by a comfortable margin.
3. the trap speed has VERY LITTLE to do with how you launch, and much more to do with the actual power the car is making. the 60ft time has much more to do with how you launch and what type of transmission you are using.

The Evo does high 11's and 114-116mph trap speeds with under 4k in mods. Mine clicked off an 11.9 on the stock turbo, stock intake, stock transmission, stock clutch, stock diverter valve, etc. etc.

Mags that ran a few performance cars at Streets of Willow racetrack clicked off 1:31's in stock '05 evo 8's (the evo 9's are making about 20-30 whp more on the dyno, despite only claiming a 15 hp gain at the crank), while M3's clicked off 1:36's. Ferrari f430's clicked off 1:32-1:33's, as did a few other cars in a recent car and driver.

I have owned three DSM's and [obviously] currently own a 3000GT VR-4... I came REAL close to buying an Evo MR but I just don't trust Mitsu reliability, plus I think I'm outgrowing the look of Evos - not that I don't think they are gorgeous, I just don't want to drive one everyday.
Do you know Macky?

I think we've lost a little focus here. If we're going to talk about the Evo, do it in Car Chat.

I hear you on the Mitsu reliability . . . the DSMs were notorious for things going wrong. The evo has actually been quite a blessing reliability wise, nothing at all like those old DSMs.
I personally love the aggressive look, but im selling mine soon b/c of the girlfriend and b/c i too am feeling a bit old to be driving such a flashy car daily.
And yes, this thread has gone waaay off topic. Sorry
