Just FYI, here's what my credit union is currently offering:

NEW CAR RATES
36 months as low as 3.99% *
48 months as low as 4.24% *
60 months as low as 4.49% *

USED CAR RATES
36 months as low as 4.24% *
48 months as low as 4.74% *
60 months as low as 4.99% *

When I called a couple months ago, they said you need a credit score of 740 or greater to get their lowest rates.

Are you required to finance ALL of the vehicle cost to get those rates?
"100% of purchase price if the vehicle has never been titled, has less than 7500 miles and is current or previous model year."

I'm almost positive NO. I think they're just saying that's the most that they're willing to finance, which is up to 100% of the vehicle cost. I'm gonna use my trade-in and some of my savings to bring the financed amount down to something with reasonable monthly payments.

Any idea if there are any early pay-off penalties? Or maintenance or doc fees.

3.99% over 36 months?

damn credit union is the way to go!
too bad my company doesnt have one.
i got 5.25% thru lexus financial.

speaking of which, is the lexus december to remember promotion a bunch of BS?
they say there are special financing rates but wont tell u any exact rates, so it seems like a bunch of BS. I dont expect 3.99% but maybe something slightly higher ya know.

Not with credit unions generally, since they're non-profit and usually user-friendly. However, you can always call them and ask specifics -- you don't need to be a member, and the number is on the web site. Speaking of, this only applies to my CU, which only works with specific companies. You can't simply join without being an employee or immediate relative of an employee of one of the companies they work with. Almost all credit unions work this way I think, though someone posted about some "corporate america credit union" offering 3.99%. I'd maybe try that...

Thx for the info. Well I just called apple, and they said, I don't qualify to become a member Guess I'll just stick with my 4.40 rate, I hope to pay it off in a year or so anyway. Anyone else know if just ANYONE can join any of these other credit unions with sub 4 percent rates?
