I just realized that the HID on the IS goes from total darkness (0) to full brightness (100%) instantly when it's switched on, as opposed to the 3-5 sec warm-up phase in most other HID's. In addition, even though it's bixenon, the halogen high beam (the DRLone) still comes on when high beam is activated, but additional light comes from the xenon/projector beam. These lights work great--almost like having a hand-held search light.
You love them HIDs huh? I love too but I can't see myself spending an extra $3k for it and other stuff. I would love to see some pics of the stock HIDs. Heres my aftermarket kit installed:
nice.. is your aftermarket bixenon too? as in high beam and low beam?
And i like the few second start... it changes color and finally settles to white..
No you do not have to take the front bumper off, all you need is to remove the intake and the windshield washer fluid hose. There is enough workable space.

i am just curious, how can they go from 0 to 100 brightness instantly, when the theory behind his has an ignition and "heat up" process? those are still just the normal d2s bulbs, meaning they have the same architecture.

OK, "instantly" if the light had been used earlier that day (and I don't mean within a few hours). If cold, the heat-up process takes about 1 sec (I didn't time it--but it was significantly faster than G35c or RX300). The light is already at full brightness when the autoleveling process (headlight raises from rest to the up position) is completed. I can't explain it, perhaps they have made improvements to the ballast/ignitors.
