Default The Benz

I traded it because I needed a car with AWD. I was ready to trade into another C Class with AWD but then I saw the IS in person and, well, the rest is history. Besides, the IS's look is fresh and will remain so for another 2 or 3 years while the C-Class is close to the end of its current generation cycle and is beginning to show its age. The IS electronic toys (Nav and stereo) were also light-years ahead of Mercedes. Finally, the Lexus' V6 was buttery smooth compared to my C230K's not so polished 4cyl Kompressor; though I've driven the "new" C280 and the C350 and I must admit those new V6s are not bad at all.

THe G35x seem to have plenty of power and available AWD but the engine was rough sounding, the design was boring and the interior fit and finish left a lot to be desired.

Before owning the Mercedes I had owned 3series BMW cars (E46) so, naturally, I looked at the new 3 series (E90). Not a bad choice but I seems everybody has one. (I jockingly refer to it as the new "upperclass Jetta"). I also believe that the Lexus design is more avant-garde than the 3 series, which is somewhat blah and not very revolutionary. Plus I'm tired of hearing that the 3series is the universal standard. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice car, but I don't think is so super-duper marvelous as the cognescenti claim. Overall, the lexus is a tremendous value. More low end torque and another 50 hp would make it perhaps the most compelling value in its class (although it may already is).

Just my 2 cents.
Cheers,
Martin-
P/S the Benz's I-4 supercharged had 192hp.

Lexus specifically cautions against using more than 2 levels of folders--slows down the scanning process. I made my mp3 CD's with 2 levels of folders and the pause between songs was slightly longer than regular music CD's. It seems the player stops spinning and searches for the next song when the previous song is completed (you can hear the platter spin at the end of one song).

For a thread with a disapointing and very misleading title, it actually contains some really useful infomation!

I guess smarter people really do have dirtier minds.
