Warming up the IS350 in cold weather
Whats up everyone. I juat have a question regarding warming up my IS350 in cold weather. In the past i've owned a 2003 Audi A4 and the manual stated that it was not good to leve the car in idle to warm up. Id this the case wit the new IS350. Shouls I be warming it up for a few minutes at idle or dhould I just hop in and go..

How hot do IS350's run? In my car I wait until I see the thermometer needle move a hair, which takes about ~2 minutes. All my old VW's had the same warning - don't warm the car up, I always wondered what that was about.

Of course, idealy, you'd want to warm the car up for about 10 mins
on a cold day, but realistically who has the time or patience for that?
I'm sure as long as you let it idle for about 2-3 mins, then make sure
you ease through the rpm range, you'll be fine.. Thats what i do, anyway..
Of course i'm only referring to days that temps near the freezing mark..

Oh, I thought maybe there was a mechanical reason. Well, around here if you don't have a garage you walk out to your car and turn it on, then go back inside for 20 minutes.

Warm up a good thing....
You want your bearings to get a good supply of oil so about 2-3 minutes should do it. The transmission (WS) fluid takes a little time to reach the right viscosity but is designed for optimum cold flow characteristics. There is a little warmer/cooler line that runs outside of the transmission in lieu of a radiator type trans cooler. VVT-i is a master tech and trust in his good advice.
