2IS: Turn off engine w/out shutting down everything?
Pretty much the subject ..
Any chance to turn off the engine without having the whole electrical stuff shut down?
This would be very helpful at Railway crossings, long waiting time at traffic lights etc....
Any idea?

With foot off the brake pedal, push the Start button twice.
First time turns off engine, second puts you into Accessory mode. The stereo still works. The windows don't. (Why does Lexus do this -- keep the kids from escaping into the parking lot when you abandon them at the mall?) Not sure about the AC.
If you need more stuff on, press the Start button a third time (foot off brake), and you're in the Ignition mode where eveything works.

Thanks! I'll give it a try.
@ maz and shaolin:
It's not the fuel which forces me to turn off the engine. It's more the nature I think It is quite reasonable.
@ mmaniaci:
If you have an A/T: push the button with foot off the brake pedal.
If you have a M/T: push the button with foot off the clutch pedal

if you leave your car in neutral and turn off the engine all the accessories stay on. Never tried this but maybe you could do that and then switch it to park afterwards. worth a try.

Is there a way to turn off the car and still have the radio on? Sometimes after I've reached my destination, I still want to sit in the car and listen to the radio. The only way I know of is to totally shut the car down and press the start button once to get the radio on.

Not sure... But now that you asked... I'm tempted to try it unless someone else has. So what does happen when a 7 year-old boy (okay, I'm not sexist... girls too) sitting in the passenger seat decides to hit "THE BUTTON"?
(Sorry, not trying to thread jack either but this is definitely an interesting and related question).
Cheers,

just put on drive and try to shut down. if it doesn't shut down while the gear is in Drive then it won't shut down when you drive. i'll try this after i get off.
