Default TIP: Set the SMOG Filter Level

This is something that is probably in the manual, but I found this out earlier when I was messing with the new secret Service menu #2.
Link to that menu here:

My Tip:
You can set the SMOG level of the auto filter by holding down the "Recycle Interior Air/Cycle Fresh Air" button for a few seconds. This is the button right below the bottom right corner of the Navigation Screen.

This is probably only on the IS350 as I think the IS250's does not have this feature.
Oh and I 'm guessing this only works on IS's with a NAV screen. Maybe ones with out NAV's will display on the radio portion? Any idea if this works on IS's without NAV's?

Why would you want to change this? What does this do for you, filter out more smog?

This sounds like the same feature on the 98+ cars, it changes the sensitivity of the 'sniffer' that works when AC is set to 'auto' - it senses if the outside air has too many particles in it (or smells bad or whatever - not exactly sure how it works). Makes it turn from fresh to recirculate more or less frequently, depending on your setting the sensitivity. In other models it works like this, so suspect it will work in non-Nav cars too:

You can change the defaut sensitivty of the of the carbon filter from 0 to 3(most sensitive) to turn from fresh air to recirculate. This is in the manual...while the car is running and in park, press and hold down the auto/fresh/auto button until a number pops up in the AC display. Use the AC temperature control button to move it up from 0, 1, 2 or 3.
