Man that's NOT right! Will those of you experience this ask your dealer about it?

Just read an IS review in the Canadian Wheels Magazine and it mentions that Lexus put the steering "box" ahead of the wheels to allow for a tighter turning circle. If you guys haven't noticed our cars' turning circle is about 33.5 feet!! Anyway, the nose is probably from those big tires and the suspension geometry allowing for the tight turning circle.

The IS350 is a RWD car, the front axles aren't even connected, so they certainly shouldn't bind when turning at different speeds. You are probably thinking of trucks with part-time 4WD systems that have locking differentials.

I'd have taken a 2 foot turning circle it it meant I wouldn't have to hear a THUMP everytime I turned the wheel!

I've got it and find it annoying. Not only does it "clunk" but it feels like it "skips". It doesn't seem to happen only when the wheel is fully turned, but in any sharp turn at slower speeds.

That totally holds true for me as well, the steering wheel doesnt even have to be
all the way turned to the hilt.. I also have the feeling as if i'm skidding on ice
or dirt...

I may have noticed it once (and I usually make at least one U-turn every day). I like the nimble turning radius, but the one time it happened, it felt like going over a few bumps or something. Does anyone notice any difference in the frequency or intensity of the when turning at slower speed vs. faster speed?

I experienced that problem too on my IS 250. And No the thumping noise + a little jerk coming after a near all the way/all the way turn should not be normal. It should post a problem in the long run, not now I think and could probably affect alignment later on down the road. For some reason, the 1st gen IS300 had alignment issues and now the IS250/350 has this kind of problem.

I had this problem the first week I owned the car, but I haven't noticed it since. I believe it stopped when the dealer put my snow tires on. (Don't know if the dealer checked/changed alignment when he put the snows on, though I kind of doubt it)

Anyone think this is worth talking to the dealer about?

I noticed it too. I went to make a u-turn and the car made a bumping sound and felt a little couse when turning. I figured maybe it's because the wheels are huge.

Happened to me last night also @ 374 miles on the odometer.

Can someone explain it?

Is this the Lexus equivalent of snipe hunting?
