Default Smart key & car wash

OK, what do you more experienced IS owners do when you take your babies to the car wash. More specifically, how do you handle the key situation. Leave the car running, leave the smart key --where? Some of you out there must have dealt with this sitch by now. And don't tell me to just wash the car myself.

i just leave the smartkey in the cupholder. you cant lock the doors with the smartkey in the car if thats what you're worried about. well, unless your smartkey is malfunctioning.

I typically just give the smartkey to the attendant. So far none of them have seemed surprised by it at all, and they always just leave it in the cupholder when they park the car and flag me over.

When I have to valet my car, I also just leave the key fob in the cupholder.

Carwash? That's just an open invitation for swirl marks. Hope you have a light color car.

Cupholder. Just tell the attendant it's there.

And as for those people who don't get their car washed by someone else because of swirl marks: find a good new car washer. Hey, part of "luxury" is to get someone else to do your dirty work...

Default i''ve been asking...

...the valet what they want me to do and usually they say just leave it in the cupholder. i always feel a little wierd like...uh...er...its a push button...so...what do you want me to do?! havent taken it to the carwash yet...been reading a lot in the car care forums on how to do it better myself so i bought all the necessary basics. didnt realize how much even touchless washes can cause damage. im sure i'll take it to one eventually though, once laziness sets in!

my salesman advised me to remove the backup key from the fob when you give the car and fob to valet, car wash, etc.

Thanks to all you respondants. That is exactly the type of feedback I was looking for. OK, consensus says 'leave it in the cupholder'.
