1. those PLASTIC honeycomb grill cover below the front bumper--same cost-cutting measure as in G35--whle GS has real metal mesh cover. Hopefully someone comes up with stainless mesh grills to replace both the upper and lower covers (not the tack-on kind that's held by zipties).
2. smallish exhaust tips not befitting the sporting nature of the vehicle (these appear to be the same corporate tips found in Avalon, ES, as well as GS). The tips on Acura RL, MB CLS and SL appear more "manly" without being ricy. I'm gonna replace them with some nice Borla tips.

the front wheel just look god damn too small maybe due to the offset the rim was design..

the rear looks just fine.

Even with the 18s? I have seen pics with 19s, but I think the 18s look great.

Lexus says $1900 to replace which is almost 5% of cost of car....YIKES...This is a total design error on Lexus part. I am going to take them to court. You should be able to use the car with "Normal" wear..but this is insane.

Also, there are 2 silver inserts by the gearshift....if you brush them with your hand they will scratch

This is my first Lexus...I love the car, but, this cosmetic stuff is CRAP....I should be feeling good right now, but instead I think the car is trash....

I called the 1800 number to see if they can help. I just want them to do the right thing here....
It is an obvious quality/design error....

Be warned...If you get this car with wood....don't even touch it or it will scratch~
Isn't that because those are actually plastic pieces? I didn't think the IS used real wood or aluminum inside the interior.

It is real wood, a few thin layers over a plastic backing, but it is indeed truly real wood. The aluminum is just brushed looking plastic though.

Default no visor extension

small but annoying. every morning i drive to work south to work. north from work. the sun is alwys on the drivers side and the visor has no extender to cover the driver's side window and block the sun. My 4runner has a visor extendor that pulls out when you swing it over to the left to fully cover the window. don;t tell me it's to save weight.

Is there a visor kit?

IMO, the way Lexus set up options by region on the IS is just f***in ridiculous.
The prices on the Lux and Sport packages are way off as well.

GS options are much simpler. I'm seriously looking at a GS300/350. All GS's come standard with HID, seat memory package and heated seats. GS300's should be available for at or BELOW invoice when the GS350 comes out.

Its the tire size. 225/40/18s are tiny. If we could bump it to 245/40/18s on 18x8.5s, without rubbing it would look a lot better.

(1) Upper and lower grill don't match. One is honeycomb, the other is vertical slats. I don't like the way this looks at all.
(2) Easily defeated, but I can't stand the little light that illuminates your feet inside the car. Every time I'm driving at night, that little light puts a reflection on my driver's side window of my feet and the light and it makes me think that a car is right next to me. When I get the car back i'm simply going to pull the fuse.

It's pretty unlikely that the footwell lighting is on it's own circuit; pull the fuse and you'll probably kill other internal lighting as well. Haven't checked, but I'll bet you could go low-tech and just put a piece of electrical tape over the offending LED(s). Another option would be to put a red filter over them. Audi used red LEDs for ambient night lighting and it was much less intrusive than the white LEDs that Lexus uses. (Though I've totally gotten used to the white ones now)

The main issue I've had in my limited time with the car has been the forward location of the window/mirror controls.

The lower grill is plastic and looks cheap (most likely will be replaced).

wow, that's weird, i wonder why they don't have a light there. my gs400 and sc430 both have lighting in the trunk. i forgot about my is300, but i would imagine them at least putting one light in there
